The Conservatives have a majority, yes, but they only hold about 36% of the total seats. The Liberals and New Democrats combined hold about 48% of the seats. If Canada rallies around those parties, whose agendas and platforms are at odds with the Conservatives, they can at least keep things from getting worse. Maybe even force a vote of no confidence.
I know it's a scary time, and I won't lie by saying it won't be a hard fight. But you are not defeated yet...

The pundits agree that this was a volatile vote. The most focused vote for the Cons was Alberta at 60%. Can you imagine what would happen if the rest of Canada was that confident of a party? In other provinces the Cons maybe got 36-39 percent. This is not a confident vote for Harper other wise why would May oust a Conservative in BC? Harper knows this which is why he is not being too arrogant right now. I think he is surprised along with the rest of us
