You know, I feel incredibly stupid for letting movie quotes influence me, but I'm going to post this anyway. In Con Air there's a scene where Nicolas Cage is talking to a psychopath killer, and calls him insane, and he responds "Funny, to me working 9-5 every day for 50 years and then going to a retirement home so you can wait to die is insane." Yeah, those are all things I think about a lot to be honest. Not too much, because it's actually quite depressing, but still! It's kind of funny the way you put them together though:

1) You work 9-5 till you're too old to enjoy the money you earned
2) Being with someone just so you're not alone is stupid
3) Our galaxy is one speck in the universe and the Earth is one speck in our galaxy and we're one speck on the Earth, so none of our petty little concerns really matter in the grand scheme of things anyway!

In Reference to:
1. You should work until you can retire, so then you can R E L A X until you die, not wait, thats when life truly begins, whether you retire at 65 like the lowly masses, or can retire early, ie, my plan.
2. But you can be with someone until something better comes along, thats the way to go.
3. You only get one life jungle girl, thinking your concerns arent important is a good way to let it pass you by.

And cepher, I got you a present for when you come over sunday!

It was a summary (albeit cynical) of his post, not what I think! Though I stand by 2 and 3; 3 was speaking more to keeping concerns (petty and otherwise) in perspective.

I've never understood why people can just accept wasting their relatively short life spans accepting mediocrity and the norm-- you go to school, you possibly go to college, you find a job, you find a mate, you raise offspring, you work, you retire when you're too old and senile to continue working, you rot away until death finally does claim you, in which then you either go to an afterlife, or simply cease to exist.

... probably why I've half-assed everything the last 20something years of my life. ;x
