I liked Paul. Gene scared me.
My ex worked for Staff Pro (security company) and he got to work a KISS concert on/near the stage. He said Peter was a total douche.

I'm not surprised - Peter always seemed like one of those guys who thought they were more talented than they really are.
Gene strikes me as a total asshat, too.
My old guitar teacher auditioned for them after Vinnie Vincent left, and he said that Paul was a pretty cool, mellow dude, and that the rest of the band and the crew all made fun of Gene, stomping around saying, "I'm the monsssteerrrrrr..."
I was always an Ace fan. I dressed up like him for several Halloweens over the years. I must just have a fondness for skinny, drunk New Yorkers.
