Fun Stuff To Do With Kids

Mar 12, 2010 22:28

I'm going to stuff this post full of links I've found... things to do with the boys that I think they would enjoy. Some are experiments, some are crafts, some are way more complicated than I think I can really do, but I love a good challenge. If you're interested at all, you may want to add to memories because I'm just going to keep adding here ( Read more... )

Do you read the *dollar store crafts* blog ? http://dollarstorecrafts.com/ While every day isnt a winner, from time to time they have a craft that the boys and I will do.

The Crafty Crow is a pretty good *here are a ton of crafts that I saw today with links* web site- lol, there must be a word for that, but its early and I havent had coffee yet. :) http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/

Make and takes are almost always crafts that take less than 30 mins from set up to done. The majority of crafts are for ages 3-6 too. http://www.makeandtakes.com/

We love crafting too. :)

I hadn't seen the dollar store one! I will check it out! Thank you!

I was faithfully reading crafty crow & makeandtakes and um, there's another one with a girl who video tapes all of them and has 1 preschool aged boy - she has dark hair... used to be a teacher, I think? Anyway, I was reading those and holyshit if I didn't feel like THE most inferior mother ever. I spent a lot of time reading them without context and feeling like shit. Meaning - they don't show you everything that happens during EVERY craft, surely. I'd walk away feeling like I was doing something very wrong since my children were NOT crafting like that without a whole lot of hoopla going on in the background.

When I made something with the boys in December, Tim told me that I should have done a picture tutorial and included Declan ripping things apart and Simon eating glue so that people would have a REAL idea of what happens when you do crafts with a 2 1/2 and 4 year old! ;)

oh, and have you ever made the non-newtonian fluid of cornstarch and water? we would make in the day care I trained in and the boys LOVED playing w/it when they were little. all you need is cornstarch and water and you make this awesome *liquid* that when you punch it acts like a solid- so neat! heres a good link -- http://scifun.chem.wisc.edu/HOMEEXPTS/lumpyliquids.htm

It's you! Where've you been?

I've been meaning to ask you at what week you did the moxibustion with Declan. I'm in the position you were in then, now: second pregnancy, preparing for a VBAC, not wanting another breech to complicate things.

Hmmmm... I want to say 32ish weeks but I'm not totally sure. Let me do some poking around on my LJ. It's EXACTLY what happened to me! I know you can have a VBAC and be amazed by the experience (congrats, by the way - sorry I'm MIA basically. Know what you're having or having another secret?). I'll check and get back to you in a few minutes. I SO want you to get a VBAC!

okay, here's the link from my first visit. He did it once there (and I actually FELT him move after) and then sent us home with some more sticks to use regularly (I think we did it 2x a day until we knew the baby was head down... it totally smells like the weedus, but it's safe. I'd recommend a well aired out room after Claire has gone to bed ( ... )
