Wow... I'm amazed at how horrific this hurricane turned out to be. I've only been through one, Ivan, which had just as much hype as Katrina, and although it caused a great deal of property damage, recovery was pretty fast and it was quickly forgotten. People only died from freak accidents or from being too old and practically dead anyway. I was ( Read more... )

I'm glad you guys are safe! I sure hope you guys don't get another hurricane... god that would suck.

Poor people in New Orleans... they really should have left. I hear 30 people in an apartment died. :S

Thousands of people in New Orleans didn't have their own cars though. I believe almost everybody who could leave left ASAP. There was the shelter in the Superdome thing, but I've heard conditions in there are absolutely hellish now. Better than drowning, but people feel safer in their homes, whether or not they should. Leaving your home and not knowing if you'll ever see it in one piece again is a big deal...

But next time a big hurricane is headed straight for Mobile, (we're not even at the height of the hurricane season -_-) I'm going to make SURE my family gets the hell out of here.

Good thing too! I was extremely worried it might move and hit mobile instead. It's frightening thinking that within a few hours, the whole town you live in is destroyed. :S

Ya, that's true too. I wouldn't want to leave my home, my safety; my shelter. :(

I'm very glad you guys are safe. Took awile to hear from you guys so I was a bit worried... but I know it's cause internet would be down and power out and stuff. :S

Yeah, power's still out for most of Mobile...

This hurricane is going to be remembered for a very, very long time.

whoever planned and built new orleans (assuming he's already dead since it was a long time ago) was a dumbass for starting a town below sea level....in an area infested with hurricanes.

Electricity? Wow. I think yours is the first home I've heard of to have power! I think it'll be awhile before my house has power, considering how many downed lines there are in my neighbourhood...
