it IS broken! My friend from uni graduated with a good degree, he's fucking AMAZING at graphic design and has loads of work experience and has been freelancing for the last 3 years whilst at uni. But now he needs a job and can't get one! Even in local shops. So he went on the dole and you have to do that stupid course thing to help you find work. Theres also something he had to do to make it look proactive which is go and volunteer somewhere in a shop for a couple of weeks to keep your cv "up to date". All very well and good but then after you've done you're two week/1 month experience you have to go and start applying for jobs again in your local area. But they keep saying they're not taking anyone on because they've already got enough staff thanks to this volunteer scheme run by the job centre. Why would they choose to pay someone when they could keep a steady flow of volunteers coming in and working for free.
