50 books in a year

Congratulations, I know that you had your doubts! I know that if I made a goal like that I would never reach it. First of all, I get tired of a book within the first few pages if it doesn't rub me right. Secondly, I am a slow reader and often feel like I need to reread sections a few chapters back when I feel like it influenced what just happened. It took me 2 months to read East of Eden by Steinbeck because I forget to read and I feel the need to reread sections. Right now I am reading Madame Bovary and Catcher in the Rye. I am getting very tired of Holden's bitching and the other is fairly dry...yet I know that she will have an affair soon so I am holding on. Once again, I have little motivation to read ( ... )

I doubt I'll ever do that again either. In retrospect it was funny that the same year I tried to get away from the tyranny of symbolical thinking, I also set as a goal reading 50 books, not to mention writing one.
