I've been enjoying a real first-day-of-the-holidays feeling today and it's all down to Danny Boyle's ramshackle, crazy, optimistic and inspired show last night.
we missed it because we were at a friend's birthday party, but nicola and i watched it on the iplayer with a bottle of wine last night, and we enjoyed it enormously!
however, although sir paul's hey jude was stirring and he got the audience participating, god, he sang it awfully, didn't he? actually, the artic monkeys weren't all that good either...
I think there must have been problems with the singers' monitors towards the end of the show. Alex Turner sang Come Together fearfully flat and Macca had that pile-up at the start of The End.
I went up to bed once Macca started on Hey Jude. It's time he was given a peerage and put out to grass; him and that ridiculously brown hair of his. I hope I have the good grace to go properly grey when my time comes!
