Sex hides my phobia.
Val was first. Afraid of discovery, I was schoolboy hurried. Terry was the perfect date. We parted, mindful of Bureau codes, keeping friendship. Nikki was dead. If I’d stayed, cancer would’ve robbed me twice. Kim was my fiancée. I gave her a diamond; she returned it. Leah was forbidden. I took what I couldn’t-shouldn’t. Nadine was a missed opportunity. She was there and then gone in a blink. Robin was a counselor. Therapist and attorney, she fixed and freed me. Liz was lust. I used sex to hide, to feel human.
