Curveballs
When Don heard he kept saying life threw me a curveball. When Charlie heard he kept drawing chalkboard coordinates and curves. Neither thought they knew what do to and both hid in unsolvable problems-Don with criminals, Charlie with corollaries.
However, they both came to their mother. Cancer and chemo leave me drained, but also with their answer.
I chart my own course. I stand in the batter's box and the garage, so when the pitcher's ball breaks and the equations end, I'll swing from home and heart. I'll not see my hit land, but my boys will.
I'll cheer.
