Notes: This is a follow up to my previous drabble Branch and also a very belated gift to magisterequitum who wanted something with Charlie/Amita and with water.
Thick or Thin
Seven months later, Amita's water breaks and I imagine a storm passing over my tree. As I drive to the hospital the skies unload: raindrops-tears-fall, lightning-jealousy-strikes, and thunder-reality-sinks in.
Water and tears are thin; they evaporate.
Dad holds his grandson and I see a family. My branch, in a forest of many, could weigh heavy with apples, rain, or pinecones, but when released from lust, guilt, or children, it would rise. I'm the older brother, not the only son. Lightening now, I know fatherhood's not for me.
Blood and jealousy are thick; they stain.
