Testing Ryo's Patience part 01
"Yo, Pi," Ryo greeted his band mates who already sat around the table.
"You are late, Ryo-chan."
"Sorry. This guy was really taking his own sweet time to pack," Ryo gestured to Shige who was walking behind him with a big frown on his face.
"I told you to go first, didn't I," Shige hissed in annoyance but was ignored by Ryo. Even so, they still sat next to each other since those were the only seats left.
"Let's start to order then," Koyama cut when he noticed that Shige was about to open his mouth again.
Soon, everyone was busy choosing what to eat. Yamapi called for the waiter. Massu, as usual ordered a lot of food and refused to share.
"Sushi set and omurice for him," Ryo said to the waiter while flipping the menu book and gestured to Shige's direction with his chin, "and ramen for me." He put down the menu and drank his tea.
"I only want salmon sushi. I don’t need anything else, thank you." Shige said while looking at the older man beside him in annoyance.
"You do! You have not been eating much lately. Have you look at yourself in the mirror?" Ryo lectured him.
"I know my body Ryo and I'm not hungry now," Shige said sharply and then turned to the waiter, "Please cancel the omurice and sushi set. I will only have salmon sushi. And ramen for him."
Ryo stiffened and forced a smile before turning to face Shige, "Can you please listen to me this once? You look very pale lately, and you are not helping yourself by not eating properly. So eat?" Ryo gave Shige his puppy eyes.
"I refused and you can't make me," Shige replied brushing off the puppy eyes, just like that.
Everyone else froze. Shocked at Shige's reaction to THAT puppy eyes.
Ryo was about to snap when the others started voicing out their orders at once. Shige then pretended to check his cell phone refusing to continue their little argument. Ryo really has no idea what has gotten into Shige lately. Shige can be considered NEWS' 2nd glutton or 3rd or...wait..scratch that! Everyone in NEWS loves to eat. But not the recent Shige who has been skipping meals and this made him worried.
For this past week, Shige would always find a topic to argue. They couldn't stay silent for even 5 minutes. Ryo is pretty sure he did not invite Shige to live in with him, just so that they could argue all the time after dating for one year. Eight months without NEWS' activities made Ryo realized that he missed the younger one. A lot more than he expected. So he confessed soon after NEWS made their come back. And it was the most happiest time when Shige said yes a month later. 6 months after they became a couple, they decided to move in together. Everything worked out fine until last week. Shige suddenly turned bitchy. Their relationship seems to be on the rock when Shige flipped out at the very little things lately, causing both to have arguments more frequent than ever. Ryo doesn't get it. Who would get angry over a compliment?
Ryo came out of the bathroom and complimented Shige who was getting ready for their dinner date, "You look sexy in that shirt. Will definitely make heads turn."
"Oh, so now I am the slut? You are the one who goes around taking semi-naked photoshoot! Why not ask ANAN to let you model for them?!" Shige exploded and stormed out of the room.
Ryo was dumbfounded. Moodswing. One of the reason he decided to love guys instead of girls.
"So~ How's everyone?!" Uchi asked, breaking the silence.
"Yesterday I met Koichi kun," Tegoshi answered fast.
"Oh yea?! How was it?" Yamapi responded fast while the others were looking at Tegoshi silently thanking him for answering.
"He asked me to join him to watch the F1 race," Tegoshi beamed.
"He has been asking you since the first time you guys met, but you have yet to go there, have you?" Kusano said in a slight mocking tone.
"At least he asked me," Tego stuck his tongue out.
"Fine!" Kusano replied with a pout. "Wish I could go with you guys. With everyone of you to somewhere. Anywhere~"
"You should enjoy your break now Notti, go wherever you want. I wish I can have a short break," said Tegoshi.
"Please take back your wish. It sucks okay," Kusano replied. "And some people just went ahead last summer, leaving their poor friend behind," Kusano continued while glancing at Koyama, Tegoshi and Shige.
"You had assignments didn't you?" Koyama said in a motherly tone as he pats Kusano on the shoulders.
"You can always ask me!" Uchi added as he ruffles Kusano's hair.
"Oh well~ let's see if our schedule for summer allows that. Even a 1 day trip will be good enough, right?" Yamapi joined in.
Without Ryo and Shige's participation, the discussion continued until the waiter came with their food. Everyone stopped their chatting immediately and began to dig in.
"Eat!" Ryo said to Shige when he noticed that Shige barely touch his food.
"Later. I want my juice first," Shige said and ordered for Orange Juice.
Ryo sighed but did nothing. He ate his ramen slowly. Once the orange juice came, Shige took a couple of sip but continued to stare at the food. Ryo stopped eating and eyed his boyfriend sternly.
"For goodness sake Shige, at least, eat YOUR salmon sushi," Ryo said through his gritted teeth, trying to stay calm.
"The fish smell suddenly makes me want to puke,” Shige offered to his band mates, "You guys want them?”
Ryo could not take it anymore and finally snapped, “Why do you act like this? We're in public place and you are making me mad. On purpose!
"What did I do?" Shige answered. Everyone couldn't pretend anymore. They stopped eating and eyed the pair worriedly.
"You're being difficult. And apparently you decide to not obey me. Im only asking you to eat!"
"I told you I'm not hungry. I lost my appetite seeing all these!" Shige waved his hand and scrunched up his nose, signaling that he didn't like the sight of the food.
"Damn it, Shige. I'm worried about you for not eating well for almost a week now,” Ryo raised his voice a little.
"Who ask you to worry about me? Told you Im fine!"
Ryo gasped. Everyone's eyes widened in shock. They noticed the change in Shige since early that week and Ryo often looked tired but no one dared to ask why.
"I need some fresh air," Ryo stood up and walked off, grabbing his cigarette box.
“I’ll be right back,” Yamapi stood up and decided to follow Ryo.
"Are you sick, Shige?" Koyama asked, "You look very pale."
"Don't start, Koyama. I'm fine," as he swallowed the sushi whole and was about to put another piece into his mouth when he looked like he was about to throw up. He put the sushi back and drank his juice. But that did not alleviate his nausea feeling so he rushed to the restroom.
"Shige!!" Kusano ran after him immediately followed by Koyama.
A minute later, Ryo returned with Yamapi.
"Ryo-chan, Shige is sick," Uchi said before Ryo even had the chance to sit.
"What happen?! Where is he now?" he panicked.
"At the restroom. Notti and Koyama are with him now."
Ryo was about to run to the restroom when he saw Shige walking back with his two good friends behind him, looking worried.
"Are you okay?" Ryo instantly reached out and cupped Shige’s face.
"He threw up," Koyama answered since Shige kept silent.
"Let’s go and see the doctor after this,” Ryo suggested.
"I'ts ok. I’ll be fine after a rest. Im going home now. Bye guys."
"Eee..." NEWS voices echoed.
Shige took his belongings and turned to Ryo, "You can stay if you want."
With that, he walked out of restaurant.
Ryo sighed helplessly, "I'm sorry guys. Something is definitely wrong and I will go and find out what."
"It's okay Ryo-chan, just..go easy on him," Uchi nodded in understanding.
Ryo caught up with Shige and grabbed his wrist, "You're going home with me." Both didn’t say a word until they reached Ryo’s car.
“Tell me, Shige. I won't know what is wrong with you if you keep mum about it."
"I'm fine, really."
"You wouldn’t be throwing up if you are fine."
"I just can't stand the taste. It’s horrible."
Ryo frowned because Shige used to frequent that restaurant, with the salmon sushi being his most common order. But now he said that it was horrible?! Something is not right.
"We should go see doctor."
"Why?! Doctor has nothing to do with the horrible taste of the sushi!"
Ryo sighed and decided to that he would rather concentrate on the road now. The whole journey was full of silence. Surprisingly, Ryo actually enjoy the silent moments after what it seems like a long while sitting besides Shige without having to bicker.
The minute they stepped into the apartment,
"I'm hungry," Shige said.
"I'll cook something," Ryo responded in relief. "What do you want to eat?"
"Anything. Something warm would be nice."
"What about miso soup?"
"Okay. I'll take a bath first."
Ryo nodded and proceeded straight into the kitchen.
Once Ryo was done with the soup, he went into the bedroom to call for Shige only to find the latter was already under the blanket, sleeping peacefully. Ryo walked closer and put his palm over Shige’s forehead. No fever.
"Shige, the soup is ready." Ryo shook Shige’s body gently, attempting to wake him up.
"I'm sleepy," Shige mumbled and turned his back towards Ryo.
EH~ Ryo grumbled as he went back to kitchen to keep the soup. After that, he took a bath before joining Shige on the bed. Wishing a good night to the sleeping Shige, he soon closed his eyes.
It seemed like it was barely 10 minutes since Ryo had closed his eyes when he felt Shige fidgeting besides him. He glanced at the clock. 3:00am. Only 2 hours have passed. Because he really needed his sleep, he reached for Shige and wrapped his arm around his waist to stop the movements but Shige kept tossing around.
"What the hell, Shige. Please stop moving. I need to sleep you know," Ryo sat up and turned to Shige. Shige just shrugged, got up, grabbing the
blanket, and walked towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Ryo asked.
"You need sleep, don't you. Go sleep."
Suddenly Ryo was not sleepy anymore. He went after Shige, dragging him back to bed.
“Sorry,” Ryo joined Shige under the blanket.
10 minutes later, Ryo could feel that Shige was still up.
Kissing Shige’s nape, Ryo asked, "What's wrong?"
"Have you taken a bath?"
"Of course!" Ryo frowned hearing this and sat up again. "Why?"
"What soap did you use?"
"Our soap."
"I can't stand the smell."
"WHAT?! Whose smell?! My smell?!" Ryo looked at Shige in disbelieve before he smell himself. I smell good for goodness sake!
"WE use the SAME soap. WE should've have the SAME smell! How can you not stand mine when yours is pretty much the same?"
Shige shrugged, "I'll sleep outside.”
"Wha~ Wait!” Ryo caught Shige’s wrist as he was ready to get down from bed.
"What's wrong with you honestly?!" Ryo’s voiced became harsh but was only rewarded by his lover's teary eyes. He’s crying now? God, I swear I remember Shige was a boy the last time we made out.
"Im really sorry. If you are mad at me, you can scold me if it makes you feel better," Ryo said with a much softer tone.
Shige shook his head.
"Then why?"
"I don't know. I just can't stand you being too close.”
"But I don't want you go away,” he continued before Ryo reacted.
Ryo took his time to process what he had just heard.
"What?" An intelligent respond slipped from his mouth.
"I don't know, Ryo. I really don't know."
Ryo looked at Shige, trying to see if he was joking.
"Tell you what," Ryo finally said, "You sleep here. I'll sleep on the floor."
Shige nodded. Ryo took out their extra futon from the cupboard and arranged them on the floor.
"Oyasumi."
"Oyasumi, Ryo."
10 minutes later., just as Ryo was about to venture into another realm, he heard Shige’s groaned.
"What now? Still can’t sleep?" Ryo asked.
“Yeah because I can still smell you."
If this is not Shige, Ryo would have already yelled on top of his lungs.
If this is not Shige, Ryo would have already bashed the other up for not only ruining his sleep but his mood for the past week.
But this is Shige, the one person whom he loves dearly. And now he is beginning to believe that he is an idiot for he still has patience for Shige’s crappy behavior.
"What do you want me to do?” Ryo asked in a frustrating tone.
"Go to sleep on couch. But don't close the door so I still can see you."
Ryo’s jaw-dropped for a second but decided not to argue because he really needed to sleep.
