It's been a while since I've posted to the LJ, but I'm back after a short hiatus.  Sorry about the silence. Please don't take it personally. Life just gets in the way of LJ sometimes.

The big news is I've been preparing for my first Pagan concert at Ozark Avalon's 2009 Harvest Homecoming Festival over an Labor Day weekend in mid-Missouri.  Yes, I'm ( Read more... )

Good luck!

If this is your first time out and doing this- not having a sampler is okay. Advice I got from other folk-y musicians when I first started out- do your act a few times, and get it polished and get your 'sound' locked down. If you put out a raw sampler before doing this- people may not buy a CD later or ask for more. When your sound is what people want to hear more of, they'll start asking if you have a CD. :) Voila! Fans!

Again- best of luck with the new venture!
Tell us how it goes :)

Lorelei,

Thanks for the advice. The more I gave your idea some thought, the more it makes sense. Despite wanting to have something people could take home, I would rather create a CD that I can feel good about. I haven't been thinking at all beyond this concert.

Woo hoo! GO CERN! (Waves pompoms madly.) Good to see you back, my bro. I'd be happy to help with backup "Muses" when you do decide to get a formal CD.

I wish you the very best of luck!! Will you be at the bardic at Daisy's at the end of this month? It would be awesome to hear what you guys have been working on :D

Also, there's no way in hell we could get this out between now and then, but I have access to a sound studio at school. For free. And I know how to edit audio. If you should want to start working on an actual record, let me know :D

Firesong,

Yes, I am planning on being at bardic circle at Daisy's, and will be doing some of our songs.

I may very well take you up on the recording offer. (Your sister in Ohio has also offered her services via internet, too.) Thanks.

We've been to a couple OA Magical Hibernations, but never to the land. So we know some of the folks, and saw a few at PSG. That's actually how this came together. Rose heard me at the PSG talent night and kept after me until I agreed to do the concert.

They are some great folks. Sound like you've been there or know someone who has :)
