One other possibility, which hasn't garnered much press, is a simpler one. Prison systems routinely allow dying prisoners to be released in order to avoid paying hospice and end-of-life care which can be very expensive. The pragmatic Scots have decided to let Libya incur the cost of the medical care that their "hero" will need to receive. That's what I think.Thank you. And yes- I think this is the real reason. Esp right now with all the health care issues; and while he still has "months to live", those are excessively expensive months if he was to receive all the medical care a place like Scotland or a "westernized country" could provide ( ... )

Thanks for the reminder that Karma will balance things out again.

I guess the reason this affects me so much is because its one of the first act of mass murder/terrorism that I remember in my life.
