Absinthe has a nice licorice taste to it, and a weird capability of lingering for a few days. Get ripped on it and you'll be feeling weird for a while.
Original absinthe had thujone, which was reported to cause hallucinations, which led to it being banned in most of Europe and the US.
Generally, though, the psychotropic aspect of absinthe is exaggerated to the point of being bullshit. I just like the taste.
oh, like black licorice, cuz I hate that taste, perhaps that why I don't like it. also, I thought it quite pretentious to drink, mayhaps due to the above-cited "reported cause of hallucinations" and subsequent "exagggeration".

But, yeah, if you don't like licorice or anise, you'd probably not like absinthe.
