I got a notification that a couple has selected me to donate eggs to them some time within the near future. My first appointment is Monday. The reality is starting to set in that I will actually have a child out there somewhere that is half me. Someone tell me this is ok. What if theyre bad parents? Will this be a scratch on my moral record? ( Read more... )

Do you get to meet the people first? If they seem like bad people you can probably say no. Easton is right, I cant imagine people who cant have their own children paying someone for their eggs so they can mistreat the child. As far as diseases and such go that is out of your hands. I think what you are doing is a very good thing! :) Keep us updated I want to hear how the appointment goes!

I do not get to meet them. They prefer anonymous donation. The first appt. is a 2 hour psychological evaluation lol.. That will be SOOO much fun. BUT.. the parents are also put through an evaluation that is even longer and the doctor assured me that she wouldn't be trying to give them children if she didn't think they were ok. Not only does she want to make sure theyre ok, but she has to, because it is a liability to her if she doesn't. I don't know if it would be better for me if I met them. I don't want it to go to "a good christian family" lol.. Personally I would be happier if it went to a bunch of hippies. haha... But San Francisco has a good mix of great families.. I would be even more happy if it went to a gay or lesbian couple. I do get some kind of questionaire that they filled out to know what they do, and whether theyre male or female, and other general stuff. And I haven't signed a contract with them yet, so I have no obligations to them if I change my mind.

I was thinking of making a journal of just the sequence of events that I am going to do for this.. and maybe I'll publish a pamphlet or something, that way if I have a bad or good experience, people will know.
