I sent away for my application to the National Midwifery Institute last week. They say it takes 7 to 10 working days to receive it back. I am anxious to apply, but nervous about the response. I really really have to make up my english class to get a better GPA. I'm sure that with this school it hardly matters, but we'll see. I am also at the ( Read more... )

A midwife?! That is freaking awesome. Although I wouldnt want to look at vaginas all the time you would probably be great at it LOL is that a complement? Im pretty sure it is! :) I never knew there was an institute and such for it, I guess I thought that women just decided to become midwifes and that was that!
I wonder if there is an institute for becoming an herbalist, thats what I wanna be! Time for some internet searching.

California is really fucked up about becoming a midwife.. traditionally you would just apprentice with one if thats what you wanted to do, but here in order to practice legally, you have to go to an accredited school. The problem with that is, there are only 3 in the whole country. So they all have distance learning programs to accomidate Californians. I do all the book work by computer and mail, but apprentice with a midwife here. Its going to be exciting.. they DO have schools for herbalist!! you should research it..

Thats incredibly awesome, apprenticing with a midwife would be interesting! I think there is a good chance that midwifes are going to start being in higher demand. I know that if I was going to have a baby I would prefer a midwife to the hospital.

There is actually a guy in Cali that has an herbalism school that Brent and I met at the survival skills camp we went to and were considering going to. Brent also just told me he ordered a 500 dollar video course on herbalism! Its like going to school at home! :)
