In this situation, I'd assume it was probably 1 or 4. Maybe 2. But I'd ask my significant other, especially if worried.

Hypothetically, it's better to just ask the significant other (in a non-accusatory way) if they saw the friend when she was in town. You know causally. Like, "Hey, did you get a chance to see so and so when she was here last week?" And base the rest of your questions on the significant other's reaction to that.
