New TV - HELP?

Sorry for the OMGHELP screeching on twitter for TV info. :D I was trying to help someone out but I don't really know anything about TVs.

BUT *I* will have to get myself a flat panel TV so i can mount it on the wall and get rid of my bulky one (by summer).

SO. Any help, links to "TVs for Dummies" or something? I FIGURE LCD flat screen, not TOO

I haven't bought a new TV in about eight years, so I'm not help to you. Do any of your RL friends have this sort of TV? If they do, maybe than can tell what they like and especially what they don't like about them.

Thanks for the reply! :D I tried RL friends! Either they went really techy with their TV or they are like me and you and haven't bought a new TV recently.

I don't have HD, Blu-ray or any of that-->I'm way behind, I know! I'm only 'upgrading' to a flat panel TV bc of a space issue. One person says stay away from Panasonic bc of , so I guess I'll stay away. Trying to find out through online reviews, etc makes my head hurt atm, so I tried the lazy way-with a quick LJ post/tweet.
