I realize that the entire government doesn't get wiped whenever we have an election. The folks at the NSA, FBI, etc. still remain with those companies, save for some higher-up faces.
The problem is that anything that gets passed sticks around forever. The Patriot Act, one of the biggest mistakes (in my opinion) of the last few years, got renewed in 2006. Several portions became permanent.
And now we have an administration that is trying to state we have 'no expectation of privacy on our cell phones'. The same folks who screamed about the warrantless wiretaps in the last administration are giving this administration a pass; I can only guess it's because they consider President Obama to be 'their team'.
And that's how a lot of crap laws are going to be passed...ones we have to deal with for a lot of years.
I agree about the Patriot Act 100%. Actually, I'm far more concerned with that than I am about the whole cell phone thing... if I don't want the government to know where I am, I leave the cell phone at home.
I am also curious, from your first post: what, in your opinion, was part of the "change we're looking for"?
