Please join us for a discussion of the eBook of the 2-hour wrap-up movie that would have been, "The Borgia Apocalypse." If you need help finding a copy, please see the previous post.
Here's the thing: I wanted the fourth season or, at the very least, the movie so much. I wanted it. I needed it. And then I wasn't getting it.
I was really upset and have been drowning my sorrows in other Borgia related books but when I found out about this ebook today I jumped on it like white on rice. I devoured it in an hour and had to keep pausing to yell "WTF" or "OH MY GOD."
Maybe I was too distracted by the Lucrezia/Cesare lovefest of the last season to see build up for what happened in the screenplay but god damn. I feel like Cesare didn't just go dark, he became a demon, and Lucrezia just stopped loving Cesare and her father completely. This screenplay did not give me any satisfaction that I finally got something from Jordan, what it did was give me the gratitude that the fourth season and movie never happened because if this is what would have occurred in the fourth season or the movie, I would've been very upset. So yay for that, at least, because now I'm no longer desiring of a movie/
( ... )
Yeah, I mean I guess it wasn't the "Rodrigo burning in Hell...End Scene" finish that he originally said, but still...to actually cover Cesare's death AND STILL NOT SHOW LUCREZIA'S REACTION TO IT?! (Aka the only reason I wanted them to get that far, really?)
I mean, the way they just show these little final moments jumping forward in time...they could have done these in "The Prince". I really wish they had shown clips of each character with subtitles of what happened to them, they could have easily edited that in at the last minute. If Neil wasn't going to take us that far in the movie anyway.../ramble
Anyway, I am leaning towards not reading it at all, gauging from reactions and the few snippets I have seen. You can tell Neil just was done and had already given up--Showtime was wise to not make this into a film. I do wish they had done a fourth season with Guy Burt at the helm, if he had been willing and able, he wouldn't have written such a mess..
i'm not even a member here but lucrezia poisoning cesare is more out of character than cesare deciding he wants to quit the conquering business and would instead like to join a freestyle a capella group specializing in 90s dirty r n' b
i was so mad when it first got canceled, but now i'm so glad ugh
Yeah, that is the one thing I am tempted to read for so far, the C/M scenes--I thought from 3x10 that Micheletto was abandoning Cesare forever, so good to know he came back for him! (And apparently remained loyal to Cesare to the end in this movie, unlike Lucrezia...*sigh*)
I had THIS ENTIRE LONG POST and Livejournal ate it. Roar. Anyway, here were my thoughts, at least as much as I remember them, and I apologize for my occasional profanity in advance:
1. Neil Jordan regrets the C/L explicit incest, yes, I get it, I see that. The whole script was such a clumsy retcon of that plotline.
2. The shifting of emphasis from Cesare/Lucrezia to Cesare/Micheletto was just bizarre. I don't even mean from a shipping standpoint, I mean the emotional energy and power. Cesare *says* that Lucrezia means more to him than anything (although, you know what? I think other characters say that way more than he does himself), but his scenes with both Micheletto and Rodrigo are much more emotionally charged and energetic. And they're longer. And there are more of them
( ... )
7. In a perfect world, with a really good fourth season, I wanted to see a) Cesare and Lucrezia actually in a relationship and b) Rodrigo and Vanozza finding out about said relationship
THIS SO MUCH!! I've always wondered how both parents would react to the incest or if they even suspected it. I can imagine Rodrigo being totally clueless but I wonder about Vanozza. We all know that Juan had his suspicions about Cesare and Lucrezia being more than just siblings. I can't help but wonder if Vanozza ever suspected anything or if she decided to ignore the hints.
Also, can someone please tell me WHY Cesare cut off Catherina's lips? Why did he think she (or anyone) would deserve such a cruel punishment?
Because she put on poisonous lip balm (lol) and was going to kiss Rodrigo with it (lol), and tried to kiss Cesare too. Obvious solution? Cut off her lips, and call her "my love" in a totes creepy way.

Sure Lucrezia would poison the people that mean the most to her. We are the unholy family. Unholy? Sure. But more importantly FAMILY!
Oh and of course Lucrezia wants to RUN into another marriage because those always go so well for her.
And poor Micheletto. Heart broken because of Cesare and he just runs right back into his perfectly 'I just took a bath' arms??!? P.S. I'm naked.
Ugh
