Close to 2 years since we last saw Cesare and Lucrezia together. Ugh, STILL FUCKING HURTS. I hate you forever, SHO.

What is Francois Arnaud up to these days? I've seen Holliday Granger get roles since then, but haven't seen Francois. Also, Sean Harris is in the new Mission Impossible movie this summer.

I know, I miss them so much :( Really hate how Showtime left it...

Hm, I hope you don't mind if I offer a different opinion?

I'm rather happy with Showtime! They gave us The Borgias in the first place, and let it be the over-the-top, angsty, shocking, high-production-value wonder that it was! And they actually let Cesare and Lucrezia get together!

Moreover, I really strongly feel that the show ended at what might be called a "high point", of sorts, for Cesare and Lucrezia. I think that, if the show had gone on any longer, we really would have seen their relationship turn into something less purely loving than it had always been.

And, in any case, I also heard that it was the show runner who didn't want to continue with the show, rather than Showtime canceling it. Isn't that right?

I do agree with what you said in that Sho gave us a pretty awesome series, and that the show did end on a high point. However, there was so much story left to tell, and so the series finale, while I loved it, still felt very abrupt, and didn't seem the best option as a series ender..

Also, while there were rumours Neil Jordan wanted to end it, it was really Sho that wouldn't budge on a renewal. Hence the idea for the movie script as a second option, but Sho wouldn't support that, even.

The ending still annoys me 'cause IMO it wasn't a proper ending. It felt like the start of something, which then never came to be. So disappointing.

Since they already knew the show was being cancelled, would it have killed them to just have a short text stating 'and then Cesare went on to do X, Lucrezia did Y. When Pope Alexander kicked the bucket, Della Rovere became the new Pope and spent his papacy trying to villainize the Borgias'? BBC did that with The Tudors and I loved that ending.

I liked the way The Tudors ended too! They could at least have given us the short text, like you said. Guh.
