You guys know how I feel about Christianity, right?

Well, actually, some of you may not, since I haven't been posting much about real life recently. So for those of you new to this journal, here's ( a quick and dirty recap. )

And I just wondered if maybe that part of it isn't getting buried in the rest of the story. Because it deserves to be mentioned as an offense at least equal to the rest.

It has been noticed, but it's not getting as much verbalization as the OMGWTF? aspect.

Which is understandable, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to point it out here. :)

This confuzzled quasi-pagan agrees with you. Have you ever read Thomas Frank's What's the Matter with Kansas? Excellent book, and I'm reminded of his ideas when reading your post and considering all the snobbery and classism that Msscribe played into.

Frank said - and this is a small part of his book, which is mostly devoted to understanding why poor people vote for politicians who rob the poor to give to the rich - is that there is considerable snobbery amongst coastal upper-middle-class educated elites who do often disparage and look down on "those people" (i.e. Christians, Southerners, rural people). And this snobbishness very understandably makes said Southern Christians very angry (and feeds into the "latte liberal" stereotypes).

I'm neither Southern nor Christian, and this still makes my blood boil. I have both on my flist. Hell, I have ministers on my flist. None of whom are intolerant or close-minded or try to convert me or anything like that. Some of them write really good fic. And if people don't want to read smut, well, ( ... )

I hve definitely felt this myself. Insecurity is a large part of the voting process too---my mother doesn't know even to sort truth from propaganda, so she votes for people who make her feel good about being herself.

Not to mention the language, the attitude, of msscribe's socks was all wrong.

Heavens yes. I could have pointed that with alacrity, except that you probably did and no one listened. :-)

Very well-put. Pottersginny, her fake persona being that of a racist, redneck Texan named, of all things, Darlene, obviously hits a little too close to my home, too. At the time I gave it little more than a passing glance, because these kind of trolls are nothing new -- but now knowing msscribe's involvement does up the level of disgust.

Was she supposed to be Texan too? I actually didn't catch that. Good grief. Yes, I can see you would feel the effects of that as well.

Stupid bint.
