What a lovely story. Luna is charming, and young!rough-edged Dumbledore completely in character.

You've brought out something I've never noticed before: the whimsical outlook on life these two characters share. It looks like Luna's effect on Albus has been very deep indeed...

Luna is basically baby!Albus, I have always believed this, although really I think she is the more remarkable for having gained that serene all-seeingness so much younger than he did (and I suspect Albus would agree). One of my betas who read an early draft said "it's like he learned it from her!" which I confess is just what I was going for.

I'm not the only one to have noticed their curious potential as a couple, anyway. Evanna Lynch mentioned in an interview that she thinks they would get on very well together, and she would know, wouldn't she? :-)

Okay, now I really want you to write Luna as a 150-year-old. If she so ace now, how will she be by then?

Very cute story! I think that you portrayed the young Dumbledore very well, and I like that you showed Luna as being a bit ... I don't know, wiser? after the war, yet without losing her trademark absentminded optimism. I'm wondering, though, if I understand correctly why Luna chose to paint a portrait of Harry's ancestors for his birthday; was it because they looked very much like he and his parents? Just curious.

I also like that Luna's chosen fake last name just so happens to be the same as Dean Thomas'... Hmmm...

(Side Note: I was really hoping that she and Dean would end up together in DH, actually, given that he held her hand at one point . But I guess Rowling decided that it was not to be.)

I think Luna was painting a picture of Harry great-grandparents and grandfather because he didn't have any pictures of them, that's all. And yeah, Luna chose to use Dean's last nameon purpose because he was Muggle raised and she figured Dumbledore wouldn't know the family, the way he'd be bound to if she'd called herself Luna Longbottom or something.
