This is WONDERFUL -- I love it, even if I'm such a noob that the Ace parts are confusing to me. This is a dark, lonely, twisted Doctor that I can believe in, and a brilliant Martha that I do believe in.

Er, the bits with Ace. Basically, she's a seriously angry but brilliant sixteen year old girl who was manipulated into the Doctor's path by an Ancient Evil From the Dawn of Time, and the Doctor manipulates her into confronting the biggest nightmare of her life---a haunted house that she burned down after her best friend's flat was firebombed when she was thirteen---in order to make her strong enough to stand against said Evil. He's a manipulative sod, the seventh Doctor but at least he's not emo.

. . . every line is sheer brilliance, and the sum total of them effortlessly terrifying. And you've made the Tenth Doctor several million times more self-aware and likable, not to mention how you reconciled him to having once been the Seventh. Unsettling and beautiful.

I like to think he is self-aware, way, way deep inside, where he doesn't have to look at it very often. :/

I always felt that Ten was more closely related to Four and Seven---he's the perfect blend of them really, Seven's hyperintensity and Four's variable distraction.
