in honor of carl's top 10 plays of 2013

I think I'll do my worst 10 plays of 2013! Since it's not as straightforward to find out what the worst thing you can do with each play, I'll link the play in question here and provide commentary below the cut.

Hahaha! I love it! Although if that was your tenth worst play, you're doin' pretty well. I might have done JIG on that play, or perhaps QI B3 for 11, setting up the case I for 42+ if you get M, N or S.

I'm sure I had worse plays, but I hesitate to just put flat-out missed bingos because then I'll fill all 10 with those :P Maybe these focus more on strategical considerations, but there will also be some outright hilarious blunders!

QI is kind of cool. I likely should have gone with the straight JIG. I think the turn after I had a chance of winning if I had played JOLE first and hope he doesn't see my out of QUAILS, but it's too unlikely still.

My first inclination (after thinking about it for awhile) was JIG to try for QUOLL (you desperately need a play to get rid of some L's I think). Carl's play of QI is interesting, but after MIX/NIX/SIX you are left with AJLLL, which is dreadful.

Another option is JILL, to do for the case O. If you draw OU or OS you get QUA/QIS + LOX for 70+ in two turns.

i should have written that i definitely wanted to go for QUOLL with JIG but somehow convinced myself to play AXIL. of course i don't remember the train of thought that lead to it, although now i'm writing down thought patterns for plays right after games if they're weird plays. JILL is awesome!
