She slept curled tight around his pillow. Pressing her nose deeply into the cotton folds. His scent still clung there.
They thought she would want to leave their room, escape the pain of losing him by distancing herself from their bed. They didn’t see that she wanted to hold to what she still had. Hold to the spaces that reminded her most deeply of him.
She stood strong, slept deeply and remembered his touch as ghost whispers over her skin when the morning light woke her. Tore up plenty, but nothing would take him completely from her; not even grief.
