Conversations with Tiberius

My son, whom I love, is--hm. An argumentative, wildly self-confident, sort of bitchy, emo-fashionista. Yeah, I don't know where he gets it either. But we have conversations like this:

Tiberius: When I grow up, I'm going to be King of England.
Me: You can't be the King of England.
Tiberius: Why not?
Me: You're not English.

Pure gold. Although, you know, Englishness is not precisely a requirement, historically. Most of our monarchs were imported and - as it were - converted. Our current lot were Hanoverians before they were Windsors. If Tiberius doesn't mind being the older man, he could perhaps one day aspire to being George's Prince Consort, if George swings that way. Or find himself a Duke if he marries Charlotte. On the whole, though, I think he'll have more fun as the Queen of New York.

EPIC. And way better than being king of England for my money. (He could probably be prince-consort if he married Prince William's son.)
