“I’ve got to tell you something.” Ginny mumbled, carefully not looking at Harry.

It wasn’t her fault she had seen what she had. Things were complicated, Ginny had left her room to escape the book. She didn’t know whether it was good or bad, Tom seemed like he cared, he was the only one that cared. On the other hand, whenever she spent time talking to him, things faded out, and she ended up more confused then ever. She just wanted to leave.

So, she had carefully tucked the diary into the space between the pillow and the cotton slip, and left the room. Left the other girls, left the stupidity behind.

“Percy! “ said Ron angrily. “She was just about to tell us something important!”

Halfway through a gulp of tea, Percy choked.

She had never been one for directions, it was why she always had to hold mum’s hand while shopping. Ginny didn’t know where she was going, also knew if she had a specific place to go, she wouldn’t end up there. Her feet took her where they felt like it, as usual.

“Ginny- what did you see Percy doing that he didn’t want you to tell anyone?”

She waited a week after seeing a combed redhead nestled in the arch of another’s neck. A week, couldn’t even tell Tom, her one friend what she saw. Then she struck up the courage, decided her brothers had to know, if not everyone. Someone older then her must be able to fix it. And the minute she sat down to tell Ron, Percy interrupted. She couldn’t rat on him in front of him.

“Oh, that,” Ginny said giggling. “Well- Percy’s got a girlfriend.”

It was bullshit, but it was important to bullshit. Important to lie and get the right tone and movement to it too. So she giggled as she spoke, and made sure to smile and tilt her head slightly, like she couldn’t understand who would want to be with Percy.

He disappeared and George heaved a sigh.

Ok, so maybe it hadn’t been the wisest thing in the world, but the twins knew some of the pyramids had wicked brilliant curses on them. They were kinaesthetic, what better way to learn them then to experience them?

Fred had gone on reconnaissance first, just because they wanted to get cursed didn’t mean they wanted to get caught. No one was around, so they stepped into the centuries old building.

“We tried to shut him in a pyramid,” he told Harry.

When they saw that, both Fred and George were stunned into silence. It was a bad enough situation for George to turn mute, but Fred? That was unprecedented.

“but Mum spotted us.”

She was walking over fast, no doubt suspecting something. Oddly enough, for once it wasn’t them doing something wrong. The only thing left to do that would save the people inside was a distraction. The twins were good at distraction. With a shouted ‘alohomora’, her focus switched to yelling at them both, long enough for Percy to get clean and come out.

Bill and Charlie both had their wands out and were making two battered old tables fly high above the lawn smashing into each other, each attempting to knock the others out of the air.

He didn’t want to look at his older brother, he knew something he didn’t want to know about Bill, and that was never a good thing. So he devised a game in which there would be noise to circumvent talking, and made it competitive to boot, so they would have to concentrate. Bill concentrating meant less time for understanding Charlie knew, and Charlie concentrating meant less time to remember what he knew.

Bill’s table caught Charlie’s with a hung bang and knocked one of its legs off.

Charlie couldn’t help being distracted, he had looked up only to see Percy’s face pressed against the glass. The glare the window provided made it impossible to tell if he really was looking at Bill, but Charlie had no doubts.

Chuckling, Bill and Charlie directed the tables safely onto the grass, end to end, and then with a flick of his wand, Bill reattached the table leg and conjured tablecloths from nowhere.

He vaguely knew whatever had just been said was cause for laughter, so he choked out what was meant to be a booming laugh. It came out as a chortle, and was short lived. He wasn’t in the mood to laugh, Bill had a pet name for Percy. Charlie made sure the table was okay, then faded into the background. He had to refocus before he blurted out the truth. As much as he knew what they were doing was wrong, he also knew life would be bad for the entire family if others found out. The more of a secret, the better.
