A plea for help

I'd say I was lucky to miss lj being down, but I'd spent from 9:30 to 5:00 in one of the circles of hell. Better known as being in charge of the front line at my retail job. What is it about the holiday season that gets to you? Previous past experiences? Dislike of the uber-commercialisation? Irrational hatred of red, green and gold all together?

Tell me the why and I will try to help because I have a deep love for Christmas and pretty much all of the trimmings, even though I'm a practicing pagan and should therefore dispise Jesus and all his minions.

When I'm at home with my family and with my friends I love Christmas. I turn my radio on to the station that does non-stop Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I watch my mother's multiple versions of A Christmas Carol and other Christmas movies and specials.

It's only at my job in retail that gets me at the Holiday season. So I would say that it's the uber commercialization that I dislike the most and that's hitting me early this year.

See, I've been pondering this and trying to think of a solution. The only one I came up with was you thinking "sod it!" and just becoming that employee that sings along to every tune with a smile and starts wishing people a Merry Christmas in November.

But then I had mental images of you then becoming that employee that brings a chainsaw to work and kills everyone while still smiling and singing along to the Christmas music.

I think you may have defeated my Chistmasness! That's never happened before! Although getting out of retail is an obvious answer, but I'm guessing not really an option. I did retail while I was at college and Christmas was...interesting...

Sorry, about defeating your Christmasness. I'm actually feeling a little better now. Mainly because I'm going to look forward to January when I'll complete all the dental work I need and I can seriously start looking for a different job.

I also think having the election over and no more political commercials will help. I think that's been a good portion of my annoyance right now.
