Pairing: Tego/Shige, Koyato, Koyago (Keii/Shige/Tego)
Rating: R
Genre: AU, angst, drama
Warnings: mild and discriminatory language, abuse, violence, death, OOCness
Summary: I fell in love with that boy at a glimpse.  Keep it a secret.
A/N: For the life of me I don’t know Koyama’s older sister’s name.  So I just made one up for the sake of keeping her in the plot.  This is most likely going to be the longest chapter so I kinda split it up into parts.  Next part should be up soon.  Anyway HINT time~!   If anyone knows anything about the Salem Witch Trials then it might be a good clue to this puzzle I have made.  ;D

But Keii, I can wipe neither our cold hands nor his tears
So I’ll reveal our secret before the night lights up
When the seasons pass by he will grow up
Someday he won't be able to see us anymore
And I wonder if he’ll forget about everything
The moon outside the window is blurred

The blazing star, known as the sun, gave of a unmerciful summer heat.  The small metal fan rotated back and forth blowing off cool air to the one who sat in the dark corner, who still waved a uchiwa near her sweaty face.  Over in the middle of the room was a child, a sweet, innocent, and cute looking child.  His long black hair was all tied up to stop it from covering his neck while he wore shorts and a white tank top.  The boy, that couldn’t be any older then five years old, was dutifully working on a drawing as his crayons slid across the paper.

He was hot and dripping with sweat, since his mom was hogging the fan, but he didn’t let it get to him.  Once he had finished his drawing his eyes gleamed with child-like innocence as he ran over to his mother.  He held with chubby hands that still had baby fat as he beamed with pride.  Even when his mother said nothing, he tried not to be discouraged.  So he placed the paper gently on his mother’s lap with great care, as not to make her upset.

“See mommy, it’s a picture of you, me, and daddy?” he said in a cute voice as his large bright eyes blinked up at her.

Slowly the woman responded with a grunt as her slim fingers grasped the picture.  She brought it closer to her face.

“You drew this?” she asked in a raspy voice as she fanned herself more.  Her son nodded with excitement, ready to be praised on his hard work.  However, it didn’t happen once she placed her fan down.  With two hands she ripped the picture down the middle as if it were a useless scrap piece of paper.  The two halves fluttered down into Tegoshi’s hands like a pair of butterflies.

The boy looked up at his mother with hurt eyes.  He clutched the pieces of his hard work to his chest as he tilted his head down.   He sniffled a little as he tried not to sob.  He looked back up at that woman’s hard gaze.  She just picked up her uchiwa, and began to fan herself again.

“Why…” the boy asked as a choked sob escaped his pink lips.  The mother’s brow furrowed as she extended her leg to kick the boy in the chest.  He promptly fell backwards, scraping his elbow in the process.  He looked down at the blood coming out of his arm and cried even harder.  The woman abruptly stood before yanking the child to his feet.

“You ugly disgrace, get out of my sight, now!” she yelled as she pushed the boy towards the door.  Stumbling as he went, the boy ran back to his room, and hid under his bed.  He didn’t want to be found if she changed her mind, and came after him again.  He stayed there for awhile, crying his eyes out, until heard his dad’s car pulling into the driveway.  With as much stealth as a five year old could, he hid at the top of the stairway as his mom welcomed his father in.

“I’m back,” his dad said with a smile as he kissed his wife on the cheek.  “Anything interesting happen today?”

“Welcome home,” she said before hanging up his coat and taking his bag for him.  “Nothing too much, but Yuya has hurt himself again.  My, boys are so troublesome when playing,” she said in a rather concerned voice.

“Ah, dear boy are like that.  I’m sure a few scratches won’t kill him,” the father replied going to sit down in the living room.

Before he could go back to sulk in his room, Yuya’s mom looked straight at him with a evil smirk, “Eh, I guess your right dear.  Accidents happen.”

A cold chill when down Tesshi’s spine as her gaze lingered on him before following her husband into the living room.  By the age of five, Tegoshi Yuya had learned life was never fair.

It was lovely solitude as he sat in the living room by himself.  It was cozy curling up on the couch with the warm laptop on his lap.  Not having anything else to do during the day, Tegoshi did online courses for college.  Wind and light spewed through the window warming and cooling the room at the same time.  The curtains swayed softly as if dancing subtly to the music.

Tegoshi hummed along with the song playing on the TV, not knowing all the words just yet.  He looked to see a young man with dark hair and even darker eyes walking in the rain for the promotional video.  His gaze turned over to the empty plate on the coffee table.  It was already half past noon, but he had yet to return the plate to the sink after lunch.  He had the strong urge to forget it was even there.  If he acknowledged it any longer, he would have to get up from his comfortable spot to take it back.

Finally making up his mind, he placed the computer down beside him.  Picking up the plate, he headed for the kitchen.  The sound of a car made him turn his head.  He watched through the living room window as the car parked in Keii-chan’s driveway.  Yuya dropped the plate causing white shards to go asunder as he kept staring at the young woman getting out of her car.

Who was it? There was no way she could be his mother.  His sister?  A lover?  She looked like she was in her late twenties.

When Yuya began to think about it, he had ever seen neither Shige’s nor Keii’s families.  He wondered where Keii-chan was.  Maybe he was over at Shige’s house?  He grimaced as he thought about their encounter the week before.  He had really screwed up that time; he couldn’t find the will to show his face to them since then.

Still this was the first sign of someone who was close to them.  When she walked inside he finally bent over to pick up the shards on the floor.  A small piece sliced through his finger leaving a thin line before velvety liquid dripped out.  He held his finger to his lips.  Standing up, he went to the door and up on his shoes.  Like possessed, he traveled over to Koyama’s house.  A feeling of dread built up as he knocked on the door.  His face was flushed with embarrassment when the young woman answered the door.

“Um hi, I just moved into that house over there about two weeks ago.  I’ve cut my finger open; I was wondering if you had any Band-Aids?”

She smiled softly in a way that reminded him of Koyama.

“Yeah, cone on in,” she said walking inside leaving the door open for him.  Tegoshi promptly shut it behind him.

“What’s your name?”

“Ah, Tegoshi Yuya”

“Pleased to meet you, I’m Koyama Kasumi.”

“Nice to meet you too,” Tegoshi held out his hand but soon realized blood was running down his finger.  He clutched it to his chest covering it with the other hand.  “Sorry, I hope I didn’t get any on the carpet.”

“It’s okay.  Take a seat.  I’ll be right back,” she said before disappearing down the hall.

Tegoshi eased himself on the sofa.  His eyes wondered on the mantel above the fireplace.  There he saw a picture of Keii-chan and a younger Kasumi.  He got up looking at more family photos.  At the end he saw a picture of Keii and Shige together.  Keii’s arm was around Shige’s shoulders, and Shige’s arm was around Keii’s waist.  They glowed with the aura of happiness.

“Keii-chan, Shige,” Tegoshi mumbled as he stared at the photo.

“Oh you know my brother? Shige-kun too?” Kasumi said standing behind him with the first-aid kit.

Tegoshi looked back at her over his shoulder, “Yeah, that is why I picked your house to come to.”

“Ah… Keiichirou isn’t here,” she said looking down at the floor.  Tesshi would have saw if he hadn’t turned back around.

“I know,” his voice sounded solemn.  He felt guilt standing there with such a nice person, keeping a secret.  It wasn’t like he could really tell her that he had a crush on her brother and her brother’s best friend.

“Well let’s fix up your finger,” she said voice showing emotion. So Tegoshi sat down as she disinfected his finger and bandaged it up for him in a motherly sort of way.  He found it quite funny because he could picture Koyama doing the same thing for him.  She gave a questioning look at his smile.

“You remind me of him,” he voiced quietly.

“Do I?” something flashed in her eyes as she looked at him.

“You take care of me in that same concerned, motherly way that he would.  He would make sure to do his best so I wouldn’t feel any pain,” he began to realize something as he as thinking out loud.  He began to think that he really did like both Shige and Koyama so it wasn’t fair that he had only went after Shige that night.  He should have stayed there.  He should have made his intentions clear instead of running away at the first sign of trouble.  He had to see them again soon.

Kasumi smiled one of those smiled that always graced Koyama’s lips.  Tegoshi vaguely thought that he would want to marry someone like her if he were ever interested in women.  However, with that smiling face he could see her eyes welling with tears.  His fond look turned into a worried one as he leaned closer to inquire what was wrong.  She giggled slightly as he ruffled his hair in the same manner as Keii.

“Thank you.”

That is what she had told him.  Tegoshi more of less forgot his guilt for a while after that.  He stayed for a bit having some tea as Kasumi told him so stories about Keii and Shige.  He was glad to learn more about them; it made him feel closer to them.  I really wanted to see them now.  Though after a few cups of tea and some snacks he had to go.

“My dad should be on his way home so I better go back.  I forgot to pick up the rest of the glass I dropped,” Tegoshi said as he bowed and thanked Kasumi for her hospitality.

“Alright, but come over anytime you like,” she smiled waved as he headed off back home.

He finished up cleaning up the glass, with more care this time.  By the time he finally finished up his courses, his dad was home.

“Yuya you got mail today,” his father said handed over a blue envelope, “but it looks like it wasn’t really mailed.  I think someone just put it in the mail box.  You have friends around here?”

Tegoshi nodded as he opened the letter with a pounding heart.

Tesshi~

You haven’t come to see us in awhile.  Come over tomorrow!  Meet us in the backyard.  Its game time.  Be ready for a sleepover.

Shige & Keii

“So what is it?” his father asks looking at the letter over his son’s shoulder.

“Just a friend asking me to spend the night.  Is that okay with you?” he asked hopefully with puppy eyes.

“Yeah it is okay with me,” he laughed ruffling Tegoshi’s hair.  Then he noticed the bandage on his son’s finger.

“Something happen today,” he asked frowning still looking at the finger.

“Dropped a plate, cut it when I tried to clean up.  Nothing to worry about,” he said unfazed as he kept his eyes trained on the letter the duo sent him.

“Alright, just be more careful,” his dad heading into the kitchen.

Tegoshi felt a chill run up his spine as he looked out the window to see Shige’s light on.  One can hope for so much when you are going to spend the night
