What kind of loser spends her Spring Break with the flu?

Mar 15, 2012 19:30

This was not the week I expected. I'm sick again, something flu-like, possibly, I don't know. No, this whole week was not what I'd expected.

1. Arrive in El Paso
2. Get surprise-taken to gay club
3. Get taken to a roller derby
4. Catch Oz's flu
5. Start watching Supernatural

And that's pretty much what's happened. It seems Oz's friends didn't tell her the club was more or less a gay club until we were en route, but we had a lot of fun. She drove. I drank all her shots. We drew portraits. Explained we weren't an item. And two days later, I had her flu. Haven't really had the chance to be mistaken for a couple since then, jokes about wishing we were somehow compatible aside.
Since getting sick, I've sat here in her apartment, trying desperately to get better so I can meet more of her friends and we can do something fun one more time before I have to leave on Saturday. But with a temperature of 101°F today, that chance is looking slimmer and slimmer. I. Fuck. Watching Supernatural and Tenchi and Hetalia together is fun, but I want to be able do something else. Like go outside things. Like maybe go hiking a little bit with Dirk tomorrow and not have it be a suicide excursion because they have mountains here.
MOUNTAINS GANDALF, MOUNTAINS
I haven't seen mountains since driving through Kentucky and Tennessee. And you should see what they call a 'hill', oh my gosh. The only things we have in Michigan that are so big are the Lakes. I guess it's a comparable feeling, looking at one of the Lakes and looking at these mountains. I could get used to it.
Not that I would, I'm drying up as it is. I've joked before that I'm amphibious, but my hands and lips are more chapped than they've ever been (flu what flu), and the river here doesn't even have water in it except when they say so. As a result, there are no deer in the immediate vicinity, since there's no water. It is so completely different.
And they have a Lowe's that sells groceries and not home improvement supplies, wtf.
They still have Little Caesar's pizza chains here, though

And finally, I was able to print the photos from my phone. At Walgreen's. If I'd been thinking, I could have just asked for a CD, now that I think of it? I must have been starting my fever and gotten derpy.

Thing one is a CASTLE.
It is steel and perforated and has blue lights underneath. It is very cool.

Thing two is a GLASS MAZE
It is all blue and green and makes noises when you step on the right switch. It is too complicated.

Thing three is a IDK WHAT THIS IS
No seriously, what is this.

Thing bonus is ODDLY FAMILIAR TO MICHIGAN FANS
Because calling them the 'Spartans' with the blue and yellow block 'M' out front was just one step too far, I guess.

And that's been it so far. Here's hoping I can do something tomorrow - the last full day I'm here!! ;A;
