Karaoke Night at the Joe

Apr 11, 2012 02:13

I have to wake up in 8 hours, but we'll pretend the nap we had today counts toward tonight.
And so.

In honor of the NHL playoffs, which start tomorrow I mean today, I am pleased to present my playlist for Red Wings hockey at Joe Louis Arena! These are those trademark songs, those songs our DJ plays often, and hearing them on the radio always ( Read more... )

Our goal song, Dancing Larry's song, the victory song, this other one that's like "and it's R-A-N-G-E-R-S..." or something, the Potvin Sucks chant. A bunch. :D And our Sounds of the Game list from like every game ever since 2007.

I am le excited for tomorrow!

I am le excited as well. 8)
Even though the Canucks went and cursed themselves AGAIN after we said they shouldn't, I am still excited.
And hey look CBC is carrying the Canucks, Wings, and Rangers' series just about every night, how convenient for me
I don't see many games on Versus, though? Which games is fuckin' Versus grabbing now?

That's one old-timey song! But I imagine it's fun at parades when they win the cup.
And dude, they list the songs they play EACH GAME?

I apologize for blathering in advance.

Actually, the Canucks have history on their side this time. Not counting the Canucks this year, there have been 25 President's Trophies awarded, and only seven of those teams have gone on to win the Stanley Cup, a success rate of 28%. But some teams have only won the Trophy once and none of the President's Trophy winners have won the Stanley Cup on their first attempt. In fact, if you look only at five of the six teams -- again, not counting the Canucks -- who've won the President's Trophy more than once (Edmonton, Calgary, Dallas, New York, Colorado), you'll see that they've all won the Stanley Cup on their second attempt; that's a success rate of 50%, much better than the overall 28%. And since this is their second attempt ( ... )

Well okay then. Those stats do make sense, too, if a team is suddenly best in the league and then perhaps the inexperience of that unsteadies the first-time team... But you're right, showing that consistency is promising. Good luck to them, anyway!
If there weren't superstitions it wouldn't be sports, would it?

Oh, is that what that mess is? That would explain it... Wait till I tell my parents there's no more "fuckin' VERSUS".

Oooh there are actually DJs at a hockey game?
I don't recall one when I had gone to a game. As far as I can remember though they just played songs in general? (Of course any of those songs could have been trademark songs OTL)

Yes they really do have DJs at the hockey arenas.
Our resident one in Detroit is pretty good. And other sports too, I imagine, like I watch those. He plays songs when specific players get a goal, too, like it's 'their song'.
Some arenas even still have organs they play, but I don't think the Joe has one.

Check out one of these NHL playoff games and you'll see! The LA Kings and the San Jose Sharks are in the playoffs this year, so you should be able to catch a game on TV in California somehow!

Whoa organs? I'd like to see one of those. xD

My friend is a huge hockey fan and she always finds a way to watch the games xD I'm sure I can just barge into her room :]
