My semester has turned upside down in the best possible way.
At the beginning of the month, I knew I was going to be a Structures TA again, and that was it. I had no idea what classes I was taking, no idea if I was even wanted back as a tutor, and no idea about anything I wanted to do after graduation.
I shortly found out that yes, I was wanted back as a tutor, that's cool, I'll have two sources of gas and lunch money.
Then I heard I was being considered for a travel scholarship after graduation - the perfect chance to get to go to Spain and beyond after all - and should get started writing a proposal.
Last Friday, I finally signed up for some classes already. They turned out to be good classes and within my interests, seeing as the shiny new Parametric-Modeling/Digital-Fabrication class I had been considering was all filled up. Kids love shiny. Even I wanted it, despite my complete lack of experience with it or even knowing if I liked it, just because it would look new and shiny and look what I can do. Novelty, in other words. Thank goodness it was full so I could go find other things. Now I'm going to study Evidence-Based Design and Exhibit design now, two things relevant to the studios I JUST took.
Yesterday I got an e-mail offering me, of all things, a research assistant position with a professor I actually like if I could get out of the teacher assistant position and probably cut my tutor hours even at that. In addition, this position would be available only if I could find some extra credits to make me full-time again. This position would also then pay for every single dollar of my tuition this semester no matter how many credits I picked up.
Today I negotiated a directed study to fill in those extra credits on the very things I want to research while on this travel scholarship after I graduate, should I win it.
A complete reshuffling.
I've spent the last two days on campus and in the library where I still am and my head is still spinning.
