Progress...Maybe?

I don't want to speak too soon, but I got His Orangeness to finally eat something substantial. I had to go to the store, so I picked up a few can of the stinkiest, fishiest food I could find and crossed my fingers.

He eats! Finally! )

Aww, I'm so glad to hear Albert is finally getting his meds down and eating something. I hope both you and him get to feeling better. Get a good nights sleep!

Omg yay!!!!!

Do you ever give your kitties probiotics? I have sprinkled a little from a capsule on ginger's food when she's barfed recently and I think it helped. She hasn't barfed since but it coulda just passed too you know?

I'm so glad he ate something substantial!!

Oh, cool. I'll have to get some to keep on hand. Which ones did you give Ginger? There are so many brands out there...

I'm glad he finally ate! It's so stressful when they're sick. I hope he recovers soon. You don't need more stress.

I hope so, too! He ate some more this a.m. Not a lot, but small steps.

YAY!! He ate, pill and all!! YAY!!

I've done the Stinky Kat Fud trick with my kids before and it usually works. Now with their guts being so finicky, my vet suggested I keep a couple cans of Rx crisis food in the house (we use Science Diet A/D) for such occasions. It, too, is akin to Kitty Crack--they almost always snarf it all down with the quickness when presented with it. At 2 bucks a can and not being particularly kidney friendly, we don't resort to it often, but when we do it works a smasher, too!

SO glad he's eating!! I lost my Smudge kitty to fatty liver back in '06 when she was only 7 years old, so it was in the back of my mind for your Albert when you mentioned he wasn't eating properly.

((((hugs for you)))) and <<>> for Albert--good boy, Albert!! :)

I need to talk to the vet about having the Kitty Crack around..just in case. Albert normally eats so well and is so un-picky that I was thrown for a loop. He loves the Fancy Feast Ocean Fish and Salmon, and I'm sure the whole neighborhood got a whiff when I opened the can.

It's probably a good idea to have at least a couple cans of A/D around just in case--I understand it's also easy to syringe feed, though we've never had to resort to syringe feeding so far...

Jazz used to love Fancy Feast Salmon (gods, what an awful shade of pink, and it stained the carpet when it inevitably came back up). I'll have to keep Fancy Feast Ocean Fish and Salmon in mind--perhaps she'll tolerate that better? Her tummy has gotten so damned finicky about what it'll keep down as she's aged...

I was worried about Albert keeping it down; it is flaked and sometimes he has trouble with flaked food. It is definitely stank, so it's good to break it out if they have a stuffy nose and don't want to eat.

He had some of his normal Chicken/Rice this afternoon; it's from Trader Joe's and a far sight cheaper than Fancy Feast. Hoping he doesn't get hooked on the Fancy Feast...lol.
