Zack was walking, using exploration as a means of distracting his thoughts from the many questions that plagued his mind. He had a lot of questions that were thus far, unanswered, and the ones that had been answered had only lead to a new stream of questions to be asked.
Still, hands in his pockets he strolled along, taking in the sights and getting a feel for the place that was apparently his new 'home', only to freeze where he stood as an all too familiar person came into view. Zack tensed, finding himself unable to do anything but stare. "Sephiroth," he stated, half cautious, half curious.
Sephiroth jerked to a sudden halt when he heard his name, whipping his gaze around in Zack's direction and actually perking up a bit. And then a few things registered -- Zack's appearance, the cautious tone in his voice, the way he held himself. Things had changed with Zack, too. Sephiroth abruptly settled back into a more neutral stance and posture. His tone, when he spoke, was polite and edged with caution as well.
The dark haired man stared, finding himself unsure just what to say. Should he be angry? Should he lash out and put an end to this (or at least try) now? How did one question the sanity of an old friend? More so one that had allegedly murdered both innocents and friends.
However, Sephiroth appeared merely as cautious as he was, and the look in his eyes was more like the one he'd known and worked with before Nibelheim. He nodded, affirming both his name be spoken and his own thoughts. Zack watched, silent, awaiting Sephiroth's next move.
Sephiroth watched Zack closely for a few moments, then abruptly made an almost annoyed sound in the back of his throat and took a step backwards. Unease and caution, both with a core of discontent bordering on genuine upset. He didn't like what he was seeing at all, and while he might have reacted more rationally in a familiar environment, or even a strange one with his powers intact, right now he felt -- was -- weak and vulnerable and it was putting him in worse of a mood.
