When I grew up, I didn't really know what a gay person was. Most of the time, I didn't hear gay people referred to in anything other than a derogatory term because many years ago, "f*****" was actually considered acceptable.

I wasn't very aware of gay people in my youth and through schooling learned that marriage was with a man and woman.
