Hahah, oh Abed. Of course he'd set up an elaborate scheme to get Jeff and Annie together and of course Pelton would still be under the delusion that it's him ( ... )

The show doesn't really let on that Jeff is bothered all that much by Pierce's death and Troy's departure, but I think both events did have a major impact on him. Especially given Shirley's comments about how much he feels. But Jeff isn't one to broadcast stuff like that, so we only see subtle hints. For me, it's those two events that are the trigger for the re-emergence of his "feelings" for Britta and not because "something about everyone liking her turns him on." Because like Dan said, he's only really interested in her when it comes to his fear of ending up alone.

Haha, thanks! It's my own headcanon that Jeff is turned on by "dominant" Annie. This is mostly based on the look on his face when Annie is describing Hector the Well Endowed making love to the elf maiden in the first AD&D episode.

I won't get the third chapter out as quickly, unfortunately. I'd had the first one done for a few days before I posted it. But I only started this whole thing 12 days ago, so I'm moving faster than I thought I would haha.

My first reaction to this chapter: Jeff doth protest too much :D.

That said, Abed is sneaky! And Jeff is screwed lol. But in the best way possible. Can't wait to read more!!

Yes, I agree, but Jeff doth protest too much for many years now lol. I figured he'd have one more last ditch effort in him to deny his feelings, because, well, it's Jeff. :) I didn't want to dwell on it though, so basically he's figured it out by the end.

Oh my, I love your Dean. He's so inconspicuous and I chuckled out loud reading his part.

I also really liked the way you filled in Jeff's thoughts and reasoning for some of his major season 5 plot points. I thought it was all really true to the character and the fact that he's so dejectedly bummed about the breaking up of their family is heartbreaking. So on point. Did I mention I really liked that part?

Jeff's mind going blank over sexy Annie was a nice touch, too. Awesome second chapter!

Glad you liked it! This was sort of my exposition chapter, just to explore his S5 state of mind and where that leaves him moving forward. The show doesn't outright say it, but I think Pierce's death and Troy's departure played a big part in what led to his birthday crisis. It took a lot for Jeff to be comfortable with loving and trusting the study group, and for him to start losing them would be crushing, IMO. He got to know Hickey, but he was never as close to him as he was either Troy or Pierce.

As I mentioned in one of the comments above, it's my headcanon that Jeff is turned on by dominant Annie, based on his look during the first D&D game when she was seducing the elf maiden, so Annie in a cop uniform would erase his brain :-)

Jeff thinking he needed to be strong for his friends and wasn’t allowed to cry is heartbreaking, and totally a Jeff thing to think.

Leadership is a blessing and a curse sometimes. But yeah, Jeff is a slave to his own persona all too often.

Oh, and I love that you also show vulnerable Jeff and how he cried, I really like Jeff crying and want to read more of it (ok, that came out wrong :D)

I knew what you meant :) It's like healing crying. Everyone needs to be vulnerable sometimes. Troy's words can apply to Jeff too "He needs to learn a strong man can cry!"

But I imagine that he has a great mother. And I always love reading Annie and Jeff’s mom meeting or interacting, because I’m pretty sure Jeff’s mom is amazing and super lovely, and it would be nice for Annie to have a mother figure in her life.Yeah, Jeff's mom seems cool, I wish we had met her in the series. And I also love the idea of her becoming the mom Annie always needed. We don't hear much about Annie's dad though, and it makes me wonder what he was like. Was he just sort ( ... )
