Then it was: "That's a long flashback!"
Still, it was a good chapter, but you better be hard at work on the next one!

Jeff and Shirley's convo was amazing. I love Jeff and Shirley together, and I think it's adorable that you had Jeff be the one to push her to go. Also, you know she knows about the door thing, and that she texts Jeff every day asking 'did you tell her'.
Jeff's pov is something I love to read, so I'm glad I got it, especially the part of him having a 'ghost' after kissing Annie and being relieved at how she responded to said kiss even though he shouldn't be surprised at all!!!
But come on, don't leave me hanging like this what happens next????

Thanks! This was another thing I dropped a subtle hint on, though I'm sure it just didn't make any sense at the time. In chapter 5, when Annie and Britta tell Jeff and Abed, Abed's reaction was to be upset, but Jeff had an "unreadable expression." Also, in his ruminations at home on his couch, he reflects on "the one dark cloud" of the day and checks to see if his friend had emailed him back yet - the friend being Mr. Butcher.

Someone actually wrote a fic very much like this just the other day. It's on Fanfiction.net. The name of it is "Three Weeks Earlier."

Hm, I supposed I will now have to go back and reread it . . .YAY!!!!

I saw that and thought it was pretty good :). So I guess that's 2 for 2 when it comes to 'fics where Shirley figures it out before she moves' on the awesome scale.
If I may quote Benjen Stark here: "You know, my brother once told me that nothing someone says before the word 'but' really counts." :-P I'm glad you liked it though. :-)
You can quote him, but it doesn't change the fact that the above statements ( ... )

Just teasing!
I am not tar and feathering you!! I'm just saying, you know if you want to post the next chapter in like a minute or two I wouldn't be complaining :P.
I suppose I could... But it would be an incredibly short chapter... and you'd probably complain lol.
That part was really good and well written and I'm super jealous of how good you are at characterizing Shirley.
:-D
I also like that Annie was the last one to know :). (In my head Troy has known Jeff is in love with Annie for a really long time, because he's really good at seeing the emotions in people and Jeff is pretty obvious.)
Yeah, I suppose what I meant was that Abed, Britta and Shirley have all directly talked to Jeff about it. Troy asks Jeff about it - so he clearly knows. He just hasn't heard it directly from Jeff's mouth until the same moment as Annie.
And we haven't gotten any in show follow up yet (I'm half convinced Harmon is leading to a ( ... )

And I always love getting to see two different POVs of the same scene, even if it means a chapter doesn't advance the plot. ;-) I especially loved Jeff being sort of high on love and power and wanting to tell Annie the reason he'd been so awesome was because of her. Such a far cry from the narcissist Jeff has been in the past!
Thank you so much for continuing to write this story--it's one of my favorite WIPs! Looking forward to the next chapter very much.
Oh, and guess where I was the other day: LAX! I snapped this photo thinking of your story. :-)

Thanks! I kinda realized that I hadn't done very much with Shirley, and had wanted to do something with how she found out and reacted. I miss her on the show too. :(

I'm really glad you liked it! As I mentioned above, I had always planned to put in a Jeff/Shirley scene, so that's my trade off on advancing the plot, because something like this would've been in there anyway haha. And Jeff's "I love you" sorta snuck in on me at the end of chapter 10, so then I had to make this a flashback. :) But I like your description that Jeff was high on love/power, because that's basically the same idea I had during chapter 10, which is how the "I love you" snuck in.

Just kidding. Mostly.
I still really loved the chapter. I think my favorite part was Shirley pointing out the parallel between Britta refusing to take her parents' money and Jeff refusing to use his available emotional support. It was a super cool and totally accurate observation. Ten thumbs up.
Also, I like the very end. I like that all of the other study group member's approving lines are buzzing in Jeff's head when he finally decides to tell Annie he loves her. So cute and sweet. Much much better than the cynical, codependent bullshit we got in the penultimate episode of s6.
But I digress. This was super cute, and I'm glad we got to focus on Shirley for a while.
BUT GIMME MOAR!

Oh it's fine. I just sat by my computer all weekend hitting refresh and waiting for you to comment. I probably didn't cry. And yes, it was sort of cheating, but all I really did was take a future Jeff/Shirley conversation and turn it into a flashback. It ended up being the only way I could make it work.
I'm glad you like the chapter, though! I told you it was over the top, though didn't I? Haha.
Much much better than the cynical, codependent bullshit we got in the penultimate episode of s6.Yeah, I don't get that either. It's like they're saying "Hey, remember how we created these characters you love and set them up on hijinks and adventures over the years, and you loved watching it? Well it turns out every one of them is bad for one another. Thanks for watching!" I mean, would it be so terrible to let these people be happy? What's wrong with a close group of friends that love each other? If they have any ( ... )
