Conundrum:

You know you get the winter blues. You know a winter beach trip would probably be a very good thing. Yet you are too blah to make the necessary plans. What to do?

(feoh's trip to St Martin a few years back has been dancing in my head as a Wonderful Idea.)

go to http://www.site59.com/ -- wait, no, it's changed its name, now it's http://us.lastminute.com/index.html

anyways, go there and see if you can find cheap flight/hotel deals for an open weekend. they've got flight-and-hotel deals, so it's a lower bar of effort than making up your own trip.

Call a travel agent and ask about travel packages. One phone call and someone else does the work.

Give someone your credit card, tell 'em your maximum trip spending limit, give 'em a range of dates, and let them surprise you.

Or, try a travel agent.

My first rule of depression is, if it seems on some level like a good idea, but my immediate response is that it's far too tiring, it should be done immediately. Granted, for me that tends to be showers, not beach trips, but I'd still say the rule works.
