So, Doherty's, the big funeral home at Powderhouse Square, is a busy place.  All sorts of people get their last respects paid there; I've been held up by many a police officer's funeral there.  It seemed like a Somerville landmark and institution ( Read more... )

Ah. I wondered if you were there. Ben and I were there for about 45 minutes, leaving a little after 8, when I couldn't deal anymore... I dislike open caskets (didn't go near it), and crowds of course, and this weird slipping back and forth between comforting each other and random light socializing. I suppose, unfortunately, that this was just the first of many such events that await us, and perhaps I will get better at them.
