To all members of the University of Montevallo community:
University police this morning are investigating an incident that occurred at Brooke Residence Hall on the UM campus at about 9:30 Tuesday evening (Oct. 30). Reports indicate that a young woman - a juvenile who is not enrolled at Montevallo - brandished a gun in front of a number of UM students in Brooke. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. Shortly afterward, the suspect fled the campus and reportedly left the city. The UM Police Department recovered the firearm without incident. Area police officials are working with the UM Police Department as the investigation continues.
An arrest had not been made as of early this morning.
