1. I agree with that. For my class, backwork isn't accepted, anyway.

3. You HAVE to do that, otherwise it's hard to keep everyone straight! :-D

4. For a lot of my assignments there's not one correct answer, but I do give feedback to each student and tell them how many points they've gotten.

This all makes perfect sense.. was there a problem with grading?

I've recently run into that problem in my class... sweetelizabeth just turned in a piece of homework late--- but she was sick and all... I left Deva a comment in the points post about it.

I think that the guidelines you've posted are reasonable, although you might run into opposition with the Friends Only journal thing. However, it might be more reasonable to have a post on the info page where people can come to contest the points given out.

I've thought about the friends only journal thing and I've decided as long as the professors make themselves available in many ways (email, IM, etc) then it can be allowed

I agree with much of that being said. I organize my roster in excel format so im very up to date with new arrivals to the class and points given out. normally I do not accept late work either however today i made the exception for sweetelizabeth as she has a serious problem. I dont have a problem with back work being submitted because hardly any of my students do the work anyway. I suppose I should go over it as well, ill do that tonight

Perhaps having these rules (or any other rules the teachers would like to enforce) on the info pages of the classes so students know where they stand, etc.

That's if they haven't been done so already..

Just a suggestion...

and i think all the teachers are doing a wonderful job.. i'm just annoyed i don't have time to be more active in classes and such..

booness to living in the real world!

yup, i pretty much have all this in my user info, i don't know what the problem is... i said that if you're sick or something and tell me, i might accept late work, etc

as for the friends-only journal, anyone can comment on the first entry in there (it's the only one that'll show up if you're not a friend). also, i don't think she really checked the user info at DADA because my IM and email are also there... and also, i did say in class that i would be posting the right answers to everything... and i also try to update the user info w/ new students every day, altho some days i don't get around to it...

it seems to me that the student didn't pay attention to stuff that i posted/stated in the info... btw, shouldn't this post be friends-only in this comm? just wondering in case someone should see it...

I don't think a lot of students check that info! You'd think they would before lodging a complaint.. but your info and policies are so well-organized. And, it seems to me, that you're very up-front about stating rules. I can't believe there'd be a problem!

thanks, i try to keep them organized & clear :) i think not a lot of students do check it b/c half of them join and then do nothing... oh well!

And they are, really!
Yup, that's happened to me, too! But, then again, no one's contested anything I've said..... yet! :-/
