Further Confusion 2010

Feb 02, 2010 13:22

Hey folks! My first LJ entry, besides messages on other folks' entries. After one week at Further Confusion, I'm finally 'with it' enough to try and articulate the massive experience that it was and give some thanks where it is due.
Even if the con was a week long (and I'm glad it wasn't for sanity's sake), I don't think I'd get enough time ( Read more... )

*hug* After a few days of 'getting over' the craziness, all the good things have floated back up to the top. Now I think of all my pals from the con rather than dwelling on sleep deprivation and bad eating habits.

Rainfurrest happens around my B-day, so making it there would have to be a 'relaxicon'! It sounds like Nitro Conifur 5000 Plus, so it'll be great to catch up with some of the familiar furs as well as meet the new crew and see how much bigger it is. Back in 2005, attendance was still less than 600.

hyah hah hah heee!! I love all yer colorations here! *wingfuzzles*... So glad you had such a good time!
it's been like you were actually THERE for years for me, since I would see you art in the galleries, ...but this time you walk-n-talk-n-came-to-life too! ^v^

Thanks! It's a weird thing about art, isn't it? No wonder the ancient Greeks worshiped the Muses. How art has the power to transform the mind, heart and soul is as old as art itself. More than that; it can make friendship happen!

Are you going to AC this year? I most definitely am so we need to make our way through the masses and say hello again in person. Until then, e-connection is great! *returns wingsfuzzle*

ooo yesh! art AND music and terrific writing...! So many arts can connect thots and feelings and ideas ^v^ !

I haven't ever been to AC as of yet, partly cuz it often comes to close to the San Diego Comic Con and it's hard to get away in rapid succession.. not to mention it's a lot more expensive :D
...but I might someday!

Will have to see when the time gets nearer... *wagglefedders*

Jolly Quackles to Ye!! :9

Ah, Comic Con! That's a whole other animal! I remember seeing some pictures of it back in the mid 80's and it looked like a small upstart con with a few people wandering around, looking at some modest tables. There's a great pic from the book ROBOTECH: Art 1 that I should post; reminds me of some early Conifur...Now look at how massive that convention got! Now I wish I'd gone back in the day.

I LOVE your Donald pic, BTW. Looks like it's from Saludos Amigos (he's sitting atop a marker that says Lake Titicaca). That duck is so dern cute =DP

Definitely one of the most colorful LJ entries I've ever seen. :-)

Having missed out on the convention myself, all I can say is that I'm very glad to hear that you had such a good time! I had a lot of fun at FC in '07.

I'll definitely be at AC, and am very much looking forward to meeting you there. It's always great to put a face on these disembodied people I know online. :-)

He-he-he, thanks Soba (mmm, your name always makes me hungry!). I can't wait to meet you, too. I wanted to ask about the bear population in the furry community. There seems to be a few, but I swear there are more griffins than bears. Am I wrong? Since I was little, I liked to draw cartoon bears, so it would be a shame if there were such a small amount in the fandom...Just a little concern. Kuma wa kawaii desu, ne?
Thanks for the letter and I cannot wait to get to AC now! I hope to have tons of time to mess around and have fun as well as work at the con. Keep in touch, tomodachi!

There are indeed not too many bears around - and to be honest, most of them are engaged in activities that don't interest me in the least. (My innocence was shattered a few years ago when I learned a new meaning for the term "bear." :P )

I don't get too much artwork done of my character, but I've been amassing a larger collection of con badges in the past year, and in almost all cases the artist has commented on how excited they were to be able to draw a bear because the species is unusual. Henrieke, RedCoatCat, and Likeshine all said so after I commissioned them. Incidentally, I know you're a big fan of Henrieke's work, so you can see the incredibly awesome badge she did for me here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2267723/ It's huge! I'll have it with me in Pittsburgh. :-)

Ee, kuma ga totemo kawaii desu kedo, kamo mo kawaii to omoimasu yo! :-)

As for the letter, I should be thanking you! Another one will be coming eventually, so brace yourself. ;-)

Honto ka? Kamo mo kawaii desu ne? Kore wa tanoshii da! Dai sukii desu. Arigato, tomodachi. Anata no Nihongo wa totemo joozu desu.

I totally adore Henrieke's work. It makes me weak in the knees! She's so modest...her work is beyond description. We geeked out about cartoon art at the con. I would spend the entire con talking to her and the fabulous Karpour if I could have...*sigh* Thanks for sharing the link. You have quite a masterpiece.

I look forward to your next letter!
