Anyone watching "Game of Thrones" ?

Okay, I gave it two weeks, but I'm not liking it. I think it's just too brutal for me. I loved "Rome" when it was on HBO, and the gore in "True Blood" doesn't bother me either.

Could also be the fact that I'm having a hard time understanding what they are saying and what the fuck is going on LOL!

Anyone else feel the same way?

As a writer, here's the problem for me:

There's no POV character that we can trust and relate
to. I'm trying to read the first book and there are
about 15 POV characters, with even more in the books
to come.

In LOTR you had Frodo -- he was a character you could
latch on to and follow. Although Sam and the other
hobbits had the focus on them at various times, the
center was always on Frodo, just like the focus was
on Scarlett in GWTW, and on the two soldiers in "Rome."

Martin has said that he didn't want anyone to be "safe"
in his book. But then you have no character you can
follow and identify with through hundreds of pages
or hours of a series. Then it's incident, incident,
incident, all hung together with killing, betrayal,
and nastiness. It's unrelenting -- and almost totally
humorless. "I'm not a big fan of "True Blood," but
I have to admit that it has a quirky, crazy humor
to it that saves it from being nothing but blood and
icky sex.

That's my take.

I have to admit -- this was one I chose to give a pass from the start. Too bad it's not working for people who gave it a real try.
