That maybe you already met the one but you just let that person pass by in hopes of a better one? You keep on waiting and waiting and waiting for the right one to come along that you didn’t even realize that a lot of years have already gone by. And now almost everyone around you is already getting engage, getting married or having their own babies. The people around you also started to question you every chance they get on when will you get married or even just get boyfriend because as they always say, “You’re not getting any younger, you better find a good man to marry soon”. You wanted to answer back that, ‘I know! No need to rub it in. Do you think I haven’t been looking?!’

Jaejoong owns a cafe downtown Seoul. He loves that cafe so much he doesn’t realize that he haven’t been in a relationship for almost 6 years already. If it weren’t for his sister that set him up on a date one weekend. And did he already mention that the date was a total disaster? Every time he looks at other couples that pass him by the road while walking or having picnics at the park, he cannot help but feel jealous. He would always ask God when it will be his turn to find that one person whom he can spend the rest of his life with. He would always pray and hope that his significant other would hurry and find him soon. Little did Jaejoong know that Fate was just waiting for that perfect time in his life to give him the gift that he’s been waiting for so long.

One busy afternoon at the cafe that Jaejoong owns, came his sister that only have one goal; to convince him to attend to a seminar for him. Well, Chaerin received an emergency call and was called in to report for duty at the same time and day for the seminar. She thought that it would be a waste to throw out the ticket she bought. And not to mention all the freebies included in it and she heard that the one conducting the seminar was handsome as hell. So she put it on his brother’s shoulder to attend the seminar for her. So here she is whining all afternoon convincing his brother to attend the seminar.

“Oppa, please?? Pretty please? Just this one then I won’t bother you again ever~” Chaerin looks at her brother with puppy eyes that she knows he can’t resist.

“Chae, that’s what you said to me 2 weeks ago when you convinced me to go on that blind date for you.” Jaejoong said as he started to prepare another drink on his rather long queue of orders. Chaerin’s famous puppy eyes are lethal and deep inside he knows he can’t resist his only sister.

“Swear~ Cross my heart! Please, Oppa? Well, then look at it this way, you never know maybe you’ll meet your soulmate there”, Jaejoong knows his sister won’t stop until she gets what she wants from him. And what Chaerin said isn’t bad either; maybe he’ll meet someone there. So he made up his mind to shut his talkative sister up. Don’t get him wrong, he loves his sister to death.

On the day of the seminar Jaejoong got stuck in the traffic and arrived late. The seminar already started when he got inside the seminar hall. Jaejoong got the shock of his life when he saw who was conducting the seminar. It was none other than Jung Yunho. He’s going to make his sister pay for this! How did he miss this person’s name on the posters hanging outside? This is ridiculous! What is this person doing at a business seminar? He’s a lawyer for god’s sake! But he is already here so he tries to listen for about an hour but he really cannot do this. So he decided to leave and just go back to his cafe. But as he was leaving the hall, Yunho called his attention. He didn’t realize that the speaker is already entertaining questions from the attendees. He doesn’t want Yunho to recognize him so he covered his face with the pamphlet given to him awhile ago.

”Yes, sir? Don’t be shy. You can already ask your questions. May we also know your name?” Yunho said unaware that it is someone he knows. When Jaejoong removed the pamphlet from his face Yunho was shocked but still able to compose himself with a gentle smile. He never thought he would cross path again with Jaejoong after all these years.

Jaejoong straightened his back, walked towards the microphone, glared at Yunho and said, “Hello, my name is Kim Jaejoong. Question? Well, uhm, yes, uhh..” Yunho smiled to himself. Jaejoong is nervous, for he knows that this beautiful man only stutters when caught off guard or nervous. “My question is, how would you know if a business offered to you was just all lies? How can you avoid scams?”

“There is no guarantee on making business deals. It is all about taking risks.” Yunho then sent a smile to Jaejoong. “Anymore questions, Mr. Kim?”

“No, that’s it. Thank you.” Jaejoong glared at Yunho then turned around and went back to his seat.

“Questions? Anyone?” Yunho asks his audience. And almost everyone in the hall raise their hands. Just as Yunho was about to call another person to ask questions, Jaejoong suddenly turned around and went back in front of the microphone and said, “What about if you have a partner? What guarantee can you get that your partner wouldn’t leave you while in a business? That your partner wouldn’t run away with all your investments? That they won’t look for another partner while in business with us? How can we make sure that our partner wouldn’t make a fool of us?”

Yunho knows Jaejoong wasn’t referring to business anymore with that question. He just smiles and answered, “As I said a while ago, business is all about taking risks. You should be prepared for the outcome whether good or bad. You should also take care of your partner. Include him in every decision you are going to make for the business. Consult and update him even to the tiniest thing going around your business. In a partnership, it should always be give and take. Make him feel significant. Did I answer your question Mr. Kim?”

Jaejoong met Yunho’s eyes and glared at him. “Yes, thank you.” He then, return to his seat and wait until the seminar is over.

Once the seminar is over he immediately stood up and made way to the exit. But as always things wouldn’t turn out the way he wants if it concern someone called Jung Yunho. There are a lot of people near one exit at the back of the hall. And the other exit upfront was also blocked by the girls crowding over Yunho to take pictures with him. He opts to wait at the back exit to avoid Yunho. Once outside the hall he saw Yunho still taking pictures so he immediately went and waited for the elevator.

When Yunho saw Jaejoong waiting for the elevator he excused himself from the girls around him and approached Jae.

“I didn’t know you attend this kind of seminars. You are too impatient for lectures like this before.” Yunho said with a smile. Jaejoong just looked at him, fake a smile then turned around to ride the elevator he waited. Yunho then grabbed his arm, “Wait, have dinner with me? I’ll just grab my bag and we can go.”

“Look Mr. Jung.” Yunho winced when he heard Jaejoong called him by his surname. “My sister just gave me a ticket told me to attend and take notes for her then go. If I knew that you’ll be the one conducting the seminar, I would’ve just listened to her whine for days than see you. I didn’t even know you were back here in Seoul. You should’ve just stayed in New York for all I care. So, goodbye!” Yunho was still holding his arm.

“Jaejoong-ah, we saw each other after what 4, 5 years? Let me at least take you to dinner, to make it up to you. ” Yunho thinks fate is helping him this time. Letting Jaejoong go almost 5 years ago was his biggest regret in life. He never thought he’ll see this man again after what happened to them. So he made up his mind, he’ll try to gain Jaejoong back in his life.

“Actually its 6. Okay. Your treat. I think there’s a restaurant a few floors above. Let’s go.” Yunho won’t let him go? Fine. Let’s see how far he can go.

So here they are sitting across each other inside a fine dining restaurant. Jaejoong hates that stupid smile on Yunho’s face. Jaejoong didn’t bother browsing the menu given to them as they sit. He just ordered the a few expensive foods and a wine he can find in the menu.

“Are you sure you can finish all of that Jae?” Yunho asks him. He is sure Jaejoong doesn’t even know half of what he ordered just now. He’s just trying to get back at him.

“Why? You can’t pay that much for me? Don’t worry we’ll split the bill.” Jaejoong rolled his eyes. Stingy Jung Yunho.

“It’s not that. You can’t even finish a full meal in a fast food resto before. And here you are ordering a 5 course meal.” Jaejoong doesn’t eat that much before. He can still remember the first time he insist Jae to finish his whole meal, Jaejoong ended up throwing up on their way home. After that he learned that Jaejoong got an appetite problem. If Jaejooong said he’s full don’t force him to eat because he’ll just vomit it all out later.

“What do you know? You are practically a stranger to me now. We haven’t seen each other for almost 6 years.” Jaejoong glanced at Yunho who was smiling and staring at him as he sips his wine.

“I am a changed man Jaejoongie. As you said it’s been almost 6 years.” Yunho softly stares at Jaejoong. He now realized how stupid he is for loosing Jaejoong before. Jaejoong is kind, understanding and oh so sweet. Now, he needs to convince Jaejoong to give him another chance and prove to him that he wasn’t the same hot blooded and self-centred man he knows before. He is now mature and level-headed.
Their dinner was uneventful. After a few how are you’s and what keep them busy now, Jaejoong didn’t said much. A contrast to the Jaejoong he knew before who is a chatterbox. Whenever he asks a question Jae would answer him with a few words or sometimes sarcastically with a glare or two. And as expected, Jaejoong doesn’t eat much, after a few bites on his food he already pushed his plate away.

Yunho thinks it is just a front for him. He thinks Jaejoong doesn’t want to reveal much information to him. Well, he wasn’t Jung Yunho for a reason. He ordered a few of his men to do a background check on Jaejoong the past years that they weren’t together. And Yunho found a few interesting things about Jaejoong: One, Jaejoong never had a boyfriend after their break up. Two, Jaejoong already fulfilled one of his dreams, his very own cafe in Seoul. Three, Jaejoong is still the social butterfly he knew before because he found out that he would still go out with his friends every Saturday night. And four, Jaejoong still lives at his old apartment. Nothing much changed about Jaejoong the past years. Now he needs to execute his plan to woo Jaejoong and give him another chance.

Three days after their unexpected meeting and dinner, Yunho showed up at his cafe. The first few days Yunho would show up every after his morning jog. Jaejoong learned that Yunho now lives in an apartment a few blocks away from his cafe. He would then start up a conversation with him and would talk for a few minutes or if it’s a busy morning he’ll take a seat somewhere and watch Jaejoong work. Then after a week, Yunho would also show up in the afternoon with his laptop, he would then strike up a conversation with Jaejoong again if he can then would sit at the couch and would always be the last one to leave the cafe. He would always sit in the corner couch facing the bar side of the cafe where Jaejoong always is. This irritates Jaejoong to no end because that couch is exactly opposite his bar so whenever he looked up Yunho would be the first person he sees. But Jae cannot throw Yunho out or make him take other seats because then Yunho would know that he still have some kind of effect on him. No he cannot let that happen.

And then one evening his precious little sister showed up while Yunho’s in his regular spot buried in his laptop. Being Chaerin and her sharp eyes, she immediately spotted Yunho upon entering the bar to help out his brother.

“Oppa! Jae oppa! Tell me I’m seeing things and that is not Jung Yunho sitting on the couch inside your cafe.” Chaerin glared at her brother. Chaerin might be Jung Yunho’s biggest supporter when he was still dating her brother. But after what happened 6 years ago, handsome or not he’ll never hand her brother again to that scumbag, Chaerin might be younger than Jaejoong but she took it upon herself to protect her brother after his break up with Yunho. She won’t let her brother get hurt again. Her brother after all protected her all her life.

“Yeah, he started showing up a few days after that seminar thing you forced me to attend. Now that I think about it, this is your entire fault! You brat!” Jaejoong said to his sister while working on a coffee. After Chaerin finished up all the pending drinks and cleaned up. She walked straight up to Yunho’s table and took a sit before her brother can say a word.

“Yunho-sshi, long time no see.” Yunho was startled when someone took a seat across him. He didn’t need to see who it was because he knows that voice. It is none other than Jaejoong’s precocious little sister Chaerin. She grew from that tiny bratty cheeky teenager to a young lady now. Jaejoong must be proud of her. But he’s actually cautious right now because Chaerin is very unpredictable like her brother. She might be smiling like an angel right now but who knows what she’s cooking up her sleeves.

“Chaerin-ah, it’s good to see you. Look how much you’ve grown.” Chaerin just rolled her eyes and look straight into Yunho’s eyes with a warning.

“Can’t say the same with you. Look also how you’ve grown into an old man.” Brat as always with a lack of a filter too. But that’s what makes her Chaerin. Yunho just smiled because he knows not to aggravate her more. “Heard you’ve been hovering around my brother for the past week. That’s not nice old man. Let me just say this straight to you. I don’t care who you are now but I don’t like you and won’t support you or whatsoever. Stay away from my brother!”

Chaerin then stood up glared one more time then walked to the bar without looking back at Yunho. Not what he hoped for, he just lost his number one supporter before. He then goes back to his work. Yunho likes staying in Jaejoong’s cafe. It is not too crowded and has a very relaxing ambiance. Most of the regular customers are consists of students and office workers. Jaejoong only have three baristas and another manager who take turns manning the counter and making drinks. He loves watching Jaejoong works around the cafe, either making a drink or clearing up tables. That night he leaves the cafe early because Chaerin would always glare at him or raise an eyebrow to him whenever she caught him staring or looking at Jaejoong.

A week has passed by like that, good thing Chaerin needs to fly to Jeju that week because Jaejoong was about to go insane because of her. She never leaves his side whenever Yunho is in the cafe every evening. And would also glare at Yunho every chance she gets. So when Yunho learned that Chaerin was going to be in Jeju for two weeks he took that opportunity to approach Jaejoong more.

Two days after Chaerin went to Jeju Yunho waited until Jaejoong closed the cafe and offered to walk Jaejoong home. Jaejoong declined but Yunho insisted so he reluctantly said yes.

After walking for a couple of minutes in silence Yunho said, “Jae, you know that I’m serious about winning you back, right? That I’m willing to do everything for you to trust me again. I wanted to start again, this time no more secrets.”

Jaejoong just smiled and after a almost a minute he spoke, “You wanted a fresh start? What about the things you did to me before? I got a relationship trauma because of you.”

“Come on Jae, I was young and immature back then. Then let me cure that trauma I’ve caused you. Give me a chance to prove to you that I am changed man now.” Yunho tried to convince him but Jae just looked at him then smile. “Am I really that bad before Jae?”

When they arrived at Jaejoong’s apartment Yunho hold Jae’s hand and said, “I am not going to ask you to answer me now but please give it some thought?” Yunho then kissed Jaejoong’s hands without leaving his eyes.

Jaejoong saw something in Yunho’s eyes. Is it desperation? Seriousness? Maturity? Or pure genuine love? He can’t seem to put a finger on it but whatever that is seems to be the last straw in Jaejoong holding back from Yunho. He didn’t know when or how but after seeing Yunho almost every day after years of not seeing each other, the anger and hatred he felt before started to disappear. He clearly saw Yunho’s effort on letting him see that he wasn’t the Yunho before who hurt him then left. Jaejoong also realized that maybe this is fate finally working on side. So instead of answering Yunho he put his arms around Yunho and hugged him. He can’t see Yunho’s face but he can feel his erratic heartbeats.

What’s wrong with giving Yunho a second chance? They’ve been together before and he thinks that everyone deserves a second chance.

Yunho pulled out of their hug but still holding Jaejoong’s waist. Jaejoong wouldn’t meet his eyes so he called him instead, “Jae-ah, does this mean? I mean, I’m willing to wait. I don’t want to make you feel--”

Yunho wasn’t able to continue anymore when Jaejoong shut him up with a kiss and hug him again. “We wouldn’t know unless we try right? I can’t promise you anything but I also want to try again Yunho-ah.”
“Thank you. I won’t let you go this time.” Yunho kissed Jaejoong again.

Fate and destiny are finally working together for them.
