Amazing thing. Noori really does know the difference between Spanish and English. He has warmed up quickly to any who speaks in Spanish to him. And, I was holding him and with one aunt who speaks Spanish and a girlfriend and I said.. let us all speak in Spanish... I have a hunch he'll feel more comfortable. And he did! Some people are just awkward around little kids. It doesn't mean they don't like them. I'm sorry that experience was so negative. Hopefully they'll catch on.

I think people like the idea of babies--on tv they are cute and cuddly. but then a real baby comes along and it cries and needs diaper changes and drools :p I hope they warm up to Noori soon or at least realize how hurtful their behaviour is and at least make an effort to be kinder!

Exactly. And it has been really annoying when they say he has been "bad". I really dont think a 7 month old is capable of being "bad".

It sounds like they are just not used to babies ... just do some gentle correcting "him" not "it" and "were you a little fussy for Auntie? You are too little to throw a fit without the whole world hearing it, aren't you baby?"

And you know, as you said you had the expectation they would act like doting grandparents, so anything less is a bit of a shock. My Mom doesn't act the way I had hoped either. Oh well. I am sure they will warm up to him in no time. :)

I did try to correct her, but she said that it is important that her dog hears the same word for everything. *sigh*
Not that I am glad to hear it, but I suppose it is somewhat consoling to know that I am not the only one. What were you hoping from your mom?
