After a long, early-morning talk with my faculty advisor this morning, I think I have something resembling a life plan for the next couple of years
( Read more... )
So, I'm with you on Step 1. Except Lawrence, but yeah. Graduate = Step 1.
Step 2 is harder for me. Current possibilities? Peace Corps. Americorps. (both put off college loans until I'm done, yay!) Find a job in Madison to start paying off loans until I have a better idea of what I want to do.
My plan is to start talking to people, especially professors and such once school starts, to start figuring out my possibilities. 'Cause I really like my major, and have gotten the idea that there are more and more jobs available that involve Anthropology - anywhere where people from different cultures interact, there's a chance of miscommunication/misunderstanding, and it'd be cool to help facilitate things. But how/where/what? I don't know.
If you're interested in the academic parts of Anthro, have you considered applying for a Watson or Fulbright scholarship/fellowship? They basically give you money to go do a project/piece of research all on your own, it's pretty cool!
Depending on who winds up being president after the next election, you could do something with the foreign service, too.
So many possibilities--it's good, if a little scary, to be young! :-)

Oh, and I want to live happily ever after too.
