[When Sigmund finally manages to get back home, Capell will be waiting for him in the living room on the couch with a jar of pie in one hand and a spoon in the other. Apple cake and pie for dessert for every meal? Best meal plan ever.
A few pieces of parchment are spread about him with neat staff lines drawn on them. Obviously, he's been keeping himself occupied while waiting.]
[Sigmund could not get back fast enough. Ugh. What a terrible day.
When the door is opened, the first one to make it in is the puppy, mildly encrusted with snow stuck to his fur. He stops just inside the doorway, turning in circles and sneezing. Sigmund tries to gently nudge him out of the way with the toe of his boot]
[With a spoon full of apple pie stuffed into his mouth, Capell can only make a muffled "Mmhrff" sound at him that might be "Welcome back." Finally home! Only with what looks like a mini-Gustav. Wut?]
[The puppy wanders over to sniff at Capell's feet... and start melting his ice-armor all over them, too.]
Yes. [And that wasn't even the worst part of Sigmund's day. He swings his heavy winter cloak off his shoulders and pull his gloves off, silent, but with that look on his face that means he's definitely thinking about something.]
['No, nothing.' But he won't get away with that, not with Capell. Instead, once he's gotten his cloak all shaken out and hung up, he leans over the arm of the couch to take Capell's face in his hands and rest his forehead against Capell's hair for a moment. His skin is still a bit cold from the chill outside.]
She knows. [There are only so many things Sigmund would talk about with that sort of voice. It shouldn't be hard to figure out what he means.] She wasn't understanding.
[Dog has apparently decided that Capell is one of his new favorite people, and stretches up to put his front paws on his knees and try to lick his hands. Maybe he senses the heavy mood.]
[It takes a moment for him to think of what Sigmund means and Capell falls into a thoughtful silence as he scratches Dog behind the ears.
She wasn't understanding? What exactly does that mean? Is she upset with him? And why hadn't Sigmund told him that he was going to talk to Katara? It involved him too.]
What did you tell her? [He needs more than just two sentences of explanation.] What happened?
I told her about us. The truth. I didn't want her to start questioning you.
[Sigmund pauses for a moment, and then kneels down to take his boots off. Like the puppy, they are also starting to melt snow all over the floor. And the puppy, encouraged by the scratches, starts to try squirming his way into Capell's lap.]
I believe she thinks I'm a monster, and you're an idiot. Forget her. Someone like that isn't worth your time.
[Capell allows Dog to climb into his lap despite that the melting snow soaks through his clothes, petting him absently.
You're not so good at the explanation thing, papa. It's no wonder it didn't go over well. Capell sighs.]
Maybe I should talk with her myself. [He didn't back off from Edward and this is certainly not anywhere near the level of hatred that been directed at Capell.]
Heh. [He wouldn't say that. It's nice (if not a little embarrassing) to hear that Sigmund thinks so, but he still remembers how he felt that day in Sapran and how much he hated lunaglyphs and Leonid and the whole world.] I'm really not. I just...
I never thought that I would ever have so many friends, but even though not everyone liked me, I eventually became friends with everyone in the Force. [He smiles and his voice turns light and joking.] I even became friends with Ed.

Don't stop there, you're- ...Capell.

Is something wrong?

You should stay away from Katara. [Sigh.]

What? [Did he hear that right?] Why?

You're... a very kind person, Capell. Not everyone is deserving of that kindness.
