(here) Day 04 - Fire
Screams, flashes, smoke, they all go away slowly, disappear from his vision, his ears, his mind. He’s been holding onto Aruto for way too long now, can barely breathe, can’t understand why they keep trying to leave the building. The fire, it doesn’t matter where it came from, how it started. So many bands invited to that show, and suddenly the whole studio was on fire…
“Look, there’s a door down there, maybe if we make it there, maybe…hey, can you hear me?”
Evacuate. Yes, they told them that, they all hurried to escape, but it wasn’t easy, not when that big heavy thing from the setting that Kota doesn’t even remember its name collapsed in front of them. The others, they must be out by now, both Cloud5 and BTS, and that’s a good thing, but the two of them…
Kota can still feel the blood running from his head, and he’s too dizzy now, the lack of fresh air and everything else just too much for him to handle. His knees give up on him eventually, the heat too much around them, and the fire will be there soon, they already barely escaped the flames while making their way down the stairs. He slides down, and Aruto coughs and chokes, trying to pull him back up.
“Kota, come on, please, please just a little longer…please, they’ll find us soon, I promise…”
Ironic, so ironic, how the two of them who always clashed, could never have one peaceful conversation, now ended up having to help each other. But Kota is tired, dizzy, hurt, and he knows, he knows that Aruto also got a burn somewhere on his arm, but he can’t, he just can’t keep walking.
He tries, admittedly, clings onto Aruto once again, the boy pulling him up as much as he can, and then they’re leaning against the wall, staring towards the direction they came from. How long until they find them? They heard the sirens already, and most of the people must be out by now…
“…I’m sorry…” he whispers, choking on his own words, and Aruto stares at him, both in agony and despair, and then there’s confusion. “I’m sorry…for making the band a mess…”
Stupid, why should Aruto care? He was probably the first one to dance in victory after Kota was out of Cloud5. And why does it matter now? It’s been so long…
The boy takes a hold of his hand, strong, firm, and he grits his teeth, pulling him again. “If you come with me to that room, I’ll forgive you.” He hisses, and there it is again, that cheeky tone he always used to carry around, can’t be hidden even with all the pain in his voice. “I won’t leave you here, so you better pick your ass up and follow me, before the fire burns us both, you hear me? I’m not leaving you behind, and I won’t let you drag us down! It’s only a few meters away, just down the corridor, come on, Kota…”
Come on, this is not the end, this cannot be the end…he still has so much to offer, so many things to do with BTS…
He stretches his arm out, weakly, wrapping it around Aruto’s neck, and the boy throws his own arm around his waist, pulling him away from the wall. No, it’s not the time to leave the stage yet. He can’t let that happen, they just can’t.
